Arms problem is being too slow and lack of content. It could get better but Splatoon has more content right now.

Splatoon has the better single-player content. ARMS however is more accessible if you got friends over (and own two pairs of Joy-cons). Both are very good games with a lot of free content along the way, so pick whichever fits you.

I only have problems when using my mobile as a router, because switch doesn't work well with public connections.
Adn well, its still a miracle it works and when it doesn't d/c it never lags, which is a small miracle.
Downloads also goes insanely fast.
ps4 connection is so far the worse i ever experienced and the switch is a lot better in this regard.

OP here, I've decided to go for Splatoon. I'll get ARMS when it's cheaper if Nintendo ever lower the price and when it has the free updates

According to N and the developers, more are to come, just like splat.

Dunno where this "nintendo doesn't drop prices" meme comes from. Maybe on their eshop, but there have been tons of deals on Nintendo games at starts. Target and Best Buy have at least 1 B2G1 free deal for Nintendo games usually around November, and a game like ARMS will drop in price too. Nintendo has no control over retail prices ultimately. If a retailer thinks the games are just cluttering up shelves, they'll slash prices to get rid of them

Master mode feels like an entirely new experience. You have to approach the game differently or you'll get destroyed
Sword trials are meh but master mode as me playing the game 50 hours in now and I swore I'd never be able to play a new file again. It feels fresh

"Free DLC" is a fancy way of saying early access. The games are released incomplete, with the rest of their content being released over time. What I'd suggest is wait for the "free" DLC to finish coming out and then judge if the games are actually worth $60. By then you'll likely get a better deal on them too, if not new then used

"Early access" is implying the game is an incomplete mess at launch. Both Splatoon 1 and ARMS were great games at their core when they were released. When your game has no story or campaign to speak of, it's easy to hide early access under the guise of free DLC. Let's be real: Nintendo doesn't give anything away for free anymore. You're buying a $30 game with $30 worth of bundled DLC that's not available yet. Nintendo Game: 40% content, 60% free DLC

Sure you eventually get the full game for both, but Nintendo makes it seem like they are doing you a favor with free dlc. Prior to this they would just give you 100% of the game day 1.

obviously no company like Nintendo would ever call their game incomplete, but if they truly felt the game was complete, the DLC would be paid. Just like MK8's DLC was. MK8 felt like a complete game. No one had to say "but you get more free DLC!" if someone brought up how little content it has (which never happened anyway)

I've played Splatoon 1, and yeah I preferred carbon rollers. Gyro just never really clicked with me so while I did use normal guns I preferred sloshers and rollers, and I completely ignored chargers.

Depends on what you want. I'd go for ARMS but that's because I like 1v1 style matches a lot more.
