Suggest-a-game

Shit that's likely to get recommended a lot, so let's just get it out of the way;

If you want more Zelda and somehow haven't played the Souls series (we're on /v/ so most everyone has) you should pick it up. You can LITERALLY start on any of the following; Demon's Souls (ps3) Dark souls 1, 2, and 3 (Ps3/4, PC), Bloodbourne (Ps4). Other Zelda-likes, Secret of Mana for SNES has a similar-ish feel to it. Hyper Light Drifter does a decent job of trying to capture the NES feel. Dragon Quest Builders focuses less on the combat of zelda, but hits the exploration notes. Also, theres some nice boss fights and base building if youre into that sort of thing.

I want short fun video games with replayability. I had a lot of fun with Isaac and Nuclear Throne. I don't know what else is good like that.

FPS games;

Every single persons taste will ultimately decide whether you like an FPS or not. So I'll just throw out some fps games and some quick over views of them.

Rainbow 6 Seige. Theres a general for it in /vg/ for more info, but essentially, the game play is tactical. You die quickly (even the "highest defense" and armored characters) and headshots are more or less one bullet kills. All types of cool guns if you're into gun porn. Tons of waifus if you like that. Gameplay is real tight and MOST things are balances. Outside of 1-2 maps and a few characters, it's a blast.


Tittyfall 2, err, Titanfall 2 is a lot of fun. Tons of dumb shit like running on walls, jetpacks, giant robots, and more. Even if you're not too good at FPS games, there are little ai dudes that run around and if you kill them, you actually are helping your team out so you never REALLY feel worthless. It could also always use more players.


Waifuwatch. I dunno. I think they released a new melee centric hero. I know most people have already played it by now since it's a year old, but if you're on the fence on it still, and you like bara black men, you might try picking it up now.

Enter the Gungeon is in a similar style as Isaac.

Random item spawn, random map layout, random dungeon floors and enemy spawns.

Now, the gameplay is similar to Isaac, but I honestly feel it's a better GAME than BoI and I know it's heresy to say. Gungeon has rolling, reloading, and shit like flipping objects for cover.

The name implies, theres a TON of guns. The game boasts over 200 different guns, all of which act differently somehow. One shoots buzz saws that bounce around the room and deal good damage. Then theres a double barrel shotgun that has huge spread, and another shotgun that has a tighter spread and bullets peirce. Shit like that. cuuuuhrazy powers sorta like Isaac where you can shoot bubbles that rack up damage quickly.


I'd suggest watching a youtube video or two to see what it's like. Combat can be sorta like a bullet hell game at times, since there will be A LOT of shit on the screen at once, esp during bosses.


Other games -like- Isaac but sorta different. Rogue Legacy is pretty good. Same IDEA in random gen rooms and floors. Everytime you die you keep some of the gold you had so your next attempt will have a better chance at making it to the end of the game. Lots of oddball "buffs" and "debuffs" One make the whole game upside down, one makes the whole game black and white. One makes you very slow but your sword is huge. It plays more like a castlevania like game. 2d sidescrolling action platformer.

MMO games;

Alright, so this is going to be a shit flinging contest no matter how we approach it. If I don't mention your MMO of choice. I'm sorry but I've either never played it or I didn't have the same experience.


WoW continues to be one of the best tab targetting MMOs. Probably has the biggest player base and does a lot RIGHT. WoW comes in two main flavors. Retail, you'll be playing a polished game with years of thought put into how to make it the most fun (and keep you playing for years). Leveling up will be fairly easy and the game wont REALLY begin until you reach level 100 and step into the Legion zones, where it gets more difficult, but eventually you'll get into the REAL content.The endgame. Raiding and running dungeons for gear and gold so you can take on the NEXT dungeon/raid. Rinse. Repeat.


Private servers. Yeah, they're not too bad. There is Elysium, which runs a VANILLA server, so you can enjoy playing an unpolished game with a lot of things wrong and flawed, but it's a good way to see how WoW all started and it still has some fun even without nostalgia goggles.

BC, the "best" expansion can be played on Warmane or Gummy. Gummy is more recent, Warmane has been up for longer. Pick one. Same thing more or less. Warmane also does a Wrath server and more. Don't have as much info because I'm not huge into the private servers.

I HAVE played this game and I can actually suggest it. It plays a lot like Rogue Legacy/metroid/castlevania so if you enjoyed all of those games, you'll probably REALLY like this game. The -only- thing that I have to say, is it's one of those fucking "early access" games, so 17$ is a LOT in my opinion for a game that still has work to be done when it feels...I don't want to say shallow, but it's a bit more than half as expensive as Pubg, and that game has WAAAAAY more shit going on in it.


Other pick up and play games you might enjoy (and kinda sticking to the indy suggestions). Super Meat Boy, of course. Limbo, Bastion, and The End is Neigh are all on PC and all less than 20$ and I can say that I think they're some of the best short burst games out there.

3ds has Steamworld Dig, I think it's actually one of the best games on the 3ds, no joke. There is always Spelunky and Shovel night. They're not as short/rogue like, but I think they kinda fit with that quick burst play style.

at least decent combat, interesting world, well written sidequests and/or main story. doesn't have to be a good or original story, just well written. beyond that, I don't care what type of game it is.

Alundra is also a good pick up, just have to set up psx. It's got a lot of great puzzle solving, definitely worth picking up.
