Early on, rules block nothing, and can be ignored, but the later on in the game you get, they start getting much more harder to just ignore as there are more of them each time, and they start hitting the more important stuff. Also late game story battles come with their own rules that's completely different from the world map rules. So yes you need to play around the rules.

Marche's points are true. However the problem lies with the fact that in the "real" world he was by far the best off. He wasn't crippled, his parents were alive and the only reason why he was picked on was because he associated himself with people who did get picked on heavily. His biggest issue was that his parents didn't give him all the attention that he wanted. The points he makes are weakened because he's the person in the easiest position to say them.

Give him a difficult problem to face like being paralyzed from the waist down and give everyone else really petty problems they're running from. Because as it stands right now it's him demanding that his friends go back to the world where they're all miserable and suck up to him. That just means he wants HIS escapism back.

Marche at the end sends all inhabitants of St. Ivalice back into the real world. He doesn't kill anyone.

Morality aside, Marche deserves the win. His opponents keep on extolling the benefits of fantasy Ivalice but they have failed to understand and internalize its values. It's an RPG. All you have to do is level up, collect loot for abilities and choose your classes well. You want to stop Marche? Git gud and assassinate him in the Jagd. Marche gets it. He kills things on the reg to get stronger. He's a machine who knows what he wants and how to get it.

Even after being defeated by him personally they continue to underestimate him. There is a time to lick Viera snatch and engage in mother-son incest and that is after Marche has been eliminated. What was even their plan for doing it? Bitch at him and assume he'll come around? Hope your half-assed clan activity will put you on the same level as a guy who's already kicked your ass once and has been killing totema since? They really were living in a fantasy land if they thought they stood a chance like that.

In both games they have a move that gives a free turn, which is ridiculous. I don't know about the first game, but in the second it can be used with doublecast/critical quicken to make an infinite turn loop.

The world was real. All the people had feelings, emotions, and even the races and people that didn't exist in the real world lived and existed.

The postgame implies that the worlds diverse and Ivalice remains real as a "what if Marche continued existing in Ivalice" sort of thing so the post-game story never directly addresses him going home because it never happens.

I guess Ivalice never stopped existing but when they went to kill the final boss everyone assumed it would.

At this point i think the whole "the fantasy world is sucking your life force" thing was added simply because the entire message of the game would shatter itself before even reaching the player.

Like every other anti-escapism media, they have to make the other world shit on purpose, otherwise no one would give a single fuck about getting back to reality, give up being a mage with a horde of lewd angels at my command, and go back to my boring job where half of my paycheck is eaten away by bullshit taxes?
