Unfortunately it looks like this came down to bad management, too many hands with power. The best (and longest lasting) 4chan communities I've been following over the years have all been lead by one (1) individual who isn't afraid to say no to faggots. This is a prime example of what happens in the absence of such leadership.

Can we just not make a new and improved one? I like having a list of vidya recommended as it's helped a lot over the years to discover gems I just wouldn't have tried and I'd rather have a list that isn't fucking tainted.

Since the exodus of a bunch of posters from here over to the other, otherwise largely identical /v/ board, it put a lot of bad blood between the perception both sites have of each other despite posting.. more or less the exact same threads, but with "forbidden topics" occasionally getting a thread as well over there.

the whole thing was incredibly stupid and kind of ruined the site for a long time.

The whole ordeal started here, because Vivian James was /v/'s idea. She is a creation of this board. When 8ch kept using her, 4chan essentially 'disowned' responsibility and acted like they never cared about her or GG. I watched this shit happen in real fucking time.

It crept over the entire site and got so bad that you could almost see the visible chasm forming between people who cared about the thing and people who didn't. I only work as a paige so I can't comment on actual librarian work. I'm mostly just shelving books and cleaning up. The general building is pretty comfy and it's cool to be surrounded by books, but it's grunt work. If you want an actual career job than you have to have some experience or interest in library science. I'd still definitely prefer it over working at a CVS or 7/11 though.
