It's compensated with you being able to use more Brave attacks instead.

Firion's problem is that he will NEVER have any personality because FF2 is extremely unpopular in the West and Japan both.

FF1 Wol on the other hand is the start of Dissidia and Mobius and had a lot of time to have his personality developed and become his own character.
