I'll play VtMB about once a year. After playing it, I'll start another game up and play it again right after. After that, I'll make a character and mess around with cheats or something for a bit before finally giving it up for a while until I feel like playing again. No other game makes me do that.

You can't do much about the combat. If you're going to do a melee character, pick a clan that has celerity to make it not as bad. I never really had a problem with the ranged combat though, even though your bullet damage being determined by a stat is kind of silly.

This thread exists because of VTMB, by extension which means most /v/irgins know VTM while not knowing anything about VTR at all, which automatically makes them think VTR is inferior. VTR's character creation system is far more versatile because even though total clan number is reduced, the greatly increased bloodline count with bloodlines that make a huge difference allow for far more interesting characters. VTR has a far more intricate faction dynamic which is far more two dimensional in VTM. VTR doesn't have the cringeworthy aspects of VTM's lore like what I replied to among other things. VTR doesn't limit itself to a 90s cliche outlook on vampires, and rather than muh power fantasy remembered the personal horror aspects of what Vampire set out to do.

And right now, with the current head a weirdo idiot who likes fanfic tier stuff and only wants to focus on VTM, VTM is only going to get worse, too. It's actually worth knowing our shit or actually playing the pnp instead of what you can glean off from your playthroughs of a video game (which is nothing at all.)

VTMB was good because it did its own thing instead of trying to follow the VTM meta plot. VTR is also good because it doesn't constrain itself to one cliche while giving the players and ST tools to work with.

Yeah I'm not sure why so many people consider all of the "unused content" worthy of being added back into the game without considering the possibility that it's actually "cut content" that wasn't totally removed. I enjoyed playing the plus version a couple times to see new stuff in the game but I just use the basic version now and prefer it that way.
