I actually really like the old Tomb Raider games myself but there has been fucking nine of them, I don't really mind that much that they decided to mix it up a bit for numbers 10 and 11. I never played 11 but I did play 10 and I didn't really think it was all that terrible a game. It was like a non-shit Uncharted except the story takes itself just a little bit too seriously. But then it isn't the first Tomb Raider game to take itself a little bit too seriously.

In the second origin story Lara's mother vanishes and her father vanishes while trying to find her. Father turns up dead in Asia somewhere, I don't really remember, and her mother died in the underworld long ago.

There was no disownment in the second timeline, the legal battle was over aristocracy inheritance rules crap with her uncle.
