The PS1 library requires you to be at least a little bit of a big fucking nerd to appreciate fully. Most people would at least vaguely remember stuff like Final Fantasy, Tomb Raider, Crash and Spyro.

But games ranging from DEAD IN THE WATER to the Army Man games to whatever PS1 games you're coming up with yourself are what really defined the console. These obscure, almost experimental games made the PS1 so much more worth holding onto for the last 20 years because there's so much in its library to discover.

The PS1 felt like the first 'modern' console with its use of optical discs, CD quality audio, multimedia features and in general its appeal to your average consumer, not dissimilar from its successor the PS2. Compare that to the N64 which was just another Nintendo console with a much tighter library that people tie in with their childhood based on a handful of games they enjoyed.
