>Wretched Weaponry>>>The Wretched Automatons
I posted your exact opinion and I got blasted almost every time I say it. You do mean to say that the automata remix is better than the original one right?
I am a secondary so I went back to play Nier after finishing automata, but I think outside of wretched automatons which I for some reason ABSOLUTELY DETESTED, every other BGM in Nier is better than its Automata counterpart.
>>384004061
if we are talking about first-time-moments, nothing touched me harder than my first time reaching the opera boss.

>>384003609

>>384004345
I played Nier 1 on release and I think the automata ost is better than Nier 1. It really is simply a matter of opinion though, both ost are far above any other ost, though the supergiant games come close.

These OST wars are fucking pathetic.
Both games have incredible OSTs but Automata's one is undeniably more diverse and incorporates itself into gameplay way better.
>>384004513
I agree that on their own the OSTs are about on part but Automata has better sound direction. In fact I think very few games can even compare to Automata in that regard. Taro and Okabe work amazingly well together.
>>384004513
>both ost are far above any other ost, though the supergiant games come close
I agree, bastion's OST was employed the same way as Nier's OSTs did and it was really enjoyable when it was did right.
I would say MGR's OST also plays a big part in making the game feels good, but not quite on the same level for obvious reasons.

I would say that Nier's OST are not as good if you don't hear it during the context of playing the game. Automata's OST is more accessible than Nier but I would say it has less impact than Nier when both OSTs are played during the game.
>>384004813

character design aside, I always felt that she was destined to be nothing but the cliche "I will stay with my ship till the last minute" captain-esque character so I am not really surprised she does nothing at all but exactly that.
IMO A2, Adam and Eve are the real disappointments in the character development department. A2 is like a third wheel throughout the entire playthrough of route C getting involved in things she wouldn't be caught in in the first place (ignoring pod's involvement)
>>384005071
As with most characters, you come to understand way more about her after you've already finished the game with ending E.
The fact she gave 9S those documents is extremely intriguing.

>>384007321
Don't get your hopes up. It was confirmed by Taro that they had neither the budget nor manpower for anything other than minor DLC. Whatever Taro is working on next is guaranteed to have a greater budget now that Taro has some fame with the unexpected success of Automata.

>>384005590
Adam worked perfectly thematically.
His very first sentence is asking you why you are harming him, then he starts getting into the desire of evolving and you see him making fun of his "grandparents" (the aliens) for being a race that lacked complex rationality and emotion (iirc correctly he compared them to plants or something like that). Then he starts getting into human culture more and more, studying, dressing like what is supposed to be an anime-ish refined gentleman and building a beautiful, but all those refined things weren't enough to satisfy his thirst for, humanity, human culture and evolution.
All the refined ideas, acts, and works we human always boast about are nothing more than only a very limited part of our nature, even if we always try to sell that as the pinnacle of our nature it's actually very far from the essence of humanity.
Most underrated character of the game by far, imo.

The most hype parts of the game are the music changes and video gamey things. You would know this if you played the game.

I mean..granted, but you're still controlling an enemy machine in a segment where you can mess around with controlling it in a safe environment right before playing as a character who has a gimmick around hacking and controlling enemy machines.
It's possibly nothing, but you can't entirely dismiss the possibility.
>>384007942

>>384007563
He didn't quite understand how humanity dressed, he tied a neck tie like a bow tie and wore a belt over his pants
>>384007850
Its LITERALLY the exact same twist, I understand the humor can get in the way but its the same thing. The voices are what make it funny.
Automata is a comedy/tragedy while the first NieR is a straight drama. Just cause its funny doesn't mean its any less sad, that just makes it more interesting honestly.
The first NieR has way too much sadness thrown in your face for shit that you didn't even do or couldn't avoid. Basically after route B is "do you feel bad for doing this yet? do you feel bad now??"
Automata does a pretty good job at making you feel a lot of mixed emotions all at once
>>384008245
The only time you get to control a machine is if you sneak up on it and hack it, don't try to make it sound like that's the main purpose of hacking.. Most people don't know that you can even control the machines before the factory section where you're forced to do it. It's not a tutorial, it's just a segment for the story.

>>384009171
It's honestly one of the weaker moments of the game since it just kind of comes out of nowhere.
i thought the game was cool but it feels like the parts of the "plot" i find the most interesting are things that are inferredthe idea that 2b has been murdering 9s over and over and over again or that 9s is aware of her roleseems like a fan theory for how much evidence there is in-game to support it

At that part near the end where you are switching between them like every minute or so it made my heart pound, like "oh shit, they are going to meet eachother soon and it is not going to end well".

That ending where you can sacrifice your data and the first time I had to "reactivate" 9S were some of the most memorable experiences I had with a video game. It's just that after so many deaths I stopped caring for the characters. Like when the children killed each other out of "fear". After all we had been through (Yorha, 2B and Pascal's Village all gone), it felt trivial. I felt that the same problem happened with how he exposed the whole machines imitating humans thing. After the third or forth "but machines can't do that!" moment it lost its impact.

i can agree some of the deaths did not hit as hard, like how i felt more bad for pascal than his village. The weight of misery that 2b and 9s were going through really outclassed most of the other characters suffering. That being said having to take down 21O right after doing her quest and realizing she just wanted a family was harsh.
Also did anyone else manage to hack all the machines at the beginning of route C and get the secret 21O dialog? What did she mean by this?

>>384009314the idea that 2b has been murdering 9s over and over and over again
i would say it's not a fan theory, mainly because of her"it always ends like this"line and i think in game they mentionshe's actually a type E
Question: so we know thatDevolas and Popolas were made to keep an eye on the Gestalt Project, but where didthe rest of the androids come from? What was their purpose when they already had Devolas/Popolas around?

After humans starting going extinct i believe they started to make more androids and then androids had the means to make more of themselves after humans went extinct. There is a shit ton of back story for automata that you only really get from the plays.

I have not started the DLC which I have purchased already for some time now. I can't start the DLC without completing the base game yet the base game is telling me to hara kiri if I don't clear the ending sequence alone.
The farthest I've gotten was past E-Commerce at the third checkpoint, putting me at about 60% to the end. I have never played a danmaku either and getting past Quality Assurance after the Marketing Division sequence and getting the third checkpoint put me to bed. My head hurt so much from all the oxygen and pressure even after I woke up and went to bed again after the pain welled up once more.

Everyone stated that the DLC spoils ending E when it was released, because the content breaks the narrative and structure of the base game.
Its about to become the fourth day I have been stuck at the ending E boss. I rage quit two days ago at Quality Assurance, but went at it again and beat the segment yesterday. I think I really have spent more time on the boss than most people will spend playing Nier Automata. Therefore I'm now inclined to just get help and not delete my save.
I have already pondered about uploading my save after doing ending E a second time, but concluded that I will then take the files of two people.
I have already deleted my Nier 1 save before. So after much thinking and carrying the weight of the world, almost a week of trying, I might as well use someone's file and keep my save this time.
People who played Ending E at version 1.00 are lucky. Version 1.06 buffed ending E enemies.
>>384001892
>>384014560
Deleting your save is a meaningless gesture to begin with, so there's no shame in not doing it.
>>384016073
What the fuck man, either wait and do whatever there is left to do or just finish E without deleting.
I pirated the game myself at first and during the credits I just decided to fuck it and buy it anyway because I loved it. I still haven't seen what's after the credits, I'm just slowly doing another playthrough. With that said I should probably leave the thread because some fucker is sure to spoil the ending now.
>>384001391

Im a newfaggot when it comes to Taro games but is there a connection between Automata and Drakengard 3?
>>384016649
not really
Drakengard and Nier games take place in the same "universe" but because of story branches and time travel they have little in common, especially D3
the only thing that connects them is a reference to a D3 character
>>384016649
There's barely a connection between Drakengard 3 and 1 to begin with, so I doubt it.

If the problem is the grinding, you can beat the lv 80 rabbit easily with hacking to get a fuckton of exp, the exp chips obviously help as well. If the problem is that you are afraid of getting bored since the quests/getting weapons and materials is too chore-ish and the game doesn't have contents specifically made for lv50-90, buy or pirate the dlc, it has some fun post game gameplay contents, gives remote controlling a purpose, and it's a good excuse to have fun with A2's gameplay and the lv4 weapons.

Yes and no. That chain was broken during ending D by the network fucking off and because of the pod getting its developing in Ending E, what you said was the consequence of those two endings, not the content of one of them. The characters themselves failed from any point of view, but those failures weren't useless for the pod and gave him the strength to go beyond his own nature, to evolve, and to do that "embarrassing" 100% emotive kamikaze attack to try to give the main characters a second chance.

>>384037828
>She knew he could hack away the virus, he can even hack it out of himself so it wasn't for protecting him either.
9S couldn't just hack away the virus. Even when he hacks it at the end of the route it's only a temporary fix, and we see the virus overtake him pretty quickly.
>>384037828
>Why did Toobie send 9S away during C?
Because there was a risk of both of them being infected given that those flight units were sending signals similar to Simone's hacking attempts, except there's 4 of them and they are also using all their firepower to kill both of them.
Don't forget that a single of those things is enough to destroy goliath fortress.

Ko/Ro-shi are most likely its physical manifestations or guardians given that they are the last line of Tower defence and the most powerful machine lifeforms in the game. Same as So/Boku were connected to Adam/Eve.
>>384057898
That pic should be reversed, with 9s as the thirsty one and 2b as the "no way fag" fag.
why does the commander have so much more upgrades over all the other androids?

then why did the king of manlets9s create the basis for the entire yorha project, including planting the seeds of its own destruction, manage to fuck some serious shit up, and still end up getting his own executioner's 2B's 5' 6" booty ?
>help the resistance member push crates TWICE

She was actually pulled from the resistance so she's not even a Yorha model. She's the only one in the bunker that needs water. That's why most of the rockets coming from earth where empty except for some water
When I turned in the unit data quest, a track sounding like the Yonah track from Nier was playing but with vocals and now I can't find it. Does anyone know the name?

Nevermind, I found it. It was Faltering Prayer
It really meant a lot to me when the game mentioned that not every question needs an answer and somehow this thought never occurred to me.

What? I thought the YoRHa units needed water too and that shipping manifesto you find in the bunker's server is about rockets to the moon, not the bunker.

Everyone knows that a choker gives a 70% buff to blowjob skills.
>>384064185
>Rose suggests that they make a toast with water. Apparently, the older model androids needed some sort of liquid to keep their bodies functioning, but the newer YoRHa units are fully automatous and need no such liquid… even still, consuming water will not impede their function.

Also the moment right after 2B and 9S meet right after that. On route A you think 9S is doing some cool reckon, observing 2B progress (what, the birds?) when in reality he just flies through one giant fucking pipe.
>>384067709
>he just flies through one giant fucking pipe
he just flies through one giant fucking pipe while destroying entire factory defence forces and still having some time to look at what 2B is doing right in a middle of it
>>384068115
I fell in love with the game at that part. It was pure kino.
>>384068115

>he was fighting off machines even while crippled on top of Engels using nothing but his Pod and hacking
Route B really makes you appreciate how much work 9S was actually putting in.
>>384068915
It was obvious on route A already.
The moment 2B got stuck inside the factory in a hopeless situation when he suddenly appears and guides her out is when i truly understood how valuable he is.
>>384068915
route a = 2b comes off cold, 9s is kind of annoying
route b = 2b is kind of a cunt actually, 9s is a fucking badass and the real MC
route c = 2b and 9s otp
route d & e = K I N O
>>384069430
>2B felt a surge of emotions upon hearing how happy 9S sounded when she told him that he didn’t need to address her so formally
>However, she forced herself to suppress those emotions, deeming them unnecessary for the completion of the mission at hand, no matter how much the androids were made in humanity’s likeness.
>9S felt no hesitation at all when he took that blow meant for 2B, which he rationalizes as ‘doing what’s best for the mission’ and not due to his emotions. He doesn’t actually remember their past meetings and has no idea why he prioritized uploading her data before his own, but felt strongly compelled to do so anyways.
I fucking love those two.
>>384069767
Yeah, Route C really made me appreciate the subtleties of 2B's character, where in A and B she comes off as cold and kind of a bitch. It really shattered my heart knowing the real reasons why.

>8B's unit data
If there's one thing you can say about yorhas, they look damn good.
>>384071367
Jackass' pretty smart too. Enough to glean useful data about Yorha bodies from a couple of fights, make drugs out of the results, make IEDs with nothing but junk, body parts(both machine cores and android corpses)and spit, and figure out what the fuck happened from ruins.
And she did that while remaining mostly sane. At least saner than the males ever did. Although, she did apparently GATTAI two androids into a single unit just because. But they were probably not intact to begin with. Probably.
