P5 being too long is the least of its issues story wise. The one thing it has over P3 when it comes to a script is its pacing, after all.

I don't have a problem with long games, but this game's length is undeserved. Most of it feels like padding.

Stat maxing in particular feels like they kept it in for the sake of tradition alone. The activities themselves are shallow as can be and it feels like you're just going down a checklist of chores.

The Phantom Thieves are actually defeated when they try to fight the Grail and get trapped in a time loop due to their desire to be forever free and young. Why are the major boss fights in this game so awful?

Almost every boss includes some kind of scripted setpiece that makes it next to impossible to lose (i.e the Ballista). Madarame is the only boss that actually forces you to fight him fair and square, and he's easy.

I dunno how it would work but just to make Shido's fight better, I wish he could completely manipulate his own palace willingly and for the boss fight, somehow gain the ability to go unconscious in the real world and enter his own palace and fuck the phantom thieves up because while you're infiltrating his palace and fighting his shadow, he's so damn helpless and scared IRL it just makes it kinda lame since he's supposed to be this bad motherfucker that has ties to the entire country and can end anyone's life.
