The only thing is when it matters most you'll have bosses who scramble your team and send the Leper all the way to position 4.
Man, this game. The difficulty or RNG aren't even that bad. It's the terrible grind. Takes billions of years to upgrade just the guild and the blacksmith, let alone the entire hamlet.
>>383991083
>only 90
>>383991941
You're not wrong
>>383992315
That's why they added the radiant mode, it cuts down the grinding significantly
>>383992441
How so? Does it reduce the upgrade costs of town facilities, hero skills and equipment? Anyway, that's not the kind of game I'm willing to play on easy mode.
>>383991703
He is right. Leper is straight out worse than most other classes. He only hits the front line and cares for himself. In general the Hellion is a superior front liner due to double stun along with being able to hit all four enemy ranks. Man at Arms can protect people, shuffle to the front while stunning and disrupting enemy formation, and has more reach. Crusader can stress heal, stun, and can hit the back ranks and move up due to holy lance. Bounty Hunter has two stun skills, is very flexible in where he can be, and does a bunch of damage to marked targets.
>>383992552
>Does it reduce the upgrade costs of town facilities, hero skills and equipment?
Yes, and some level restrictions. Level 3's can go to apprentice dungeons and level 5's can go into veteran dungeons.
If confidence surges as the enemy crumbles and overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer, does that mean that the enemy crumbling is a slow and insidious killer?
>>383992603
leper is better than arbalest at least
>>383992685
Arbalest can:
>move around
>hit all enemy positions
>heal other characters
>>383992685
No. If she hits a marked target she gets insane crit modifiers and damage modifiers. She can be shuffled to the front and still use an attack skill AND it buffs her speed. Battle field bandage is a great quick heal skill along with adding on a more potent healing buff on the character.
>>383992748
the heal is shit, the damage isn't better than a graverobber or highwayman, and she's shit vs rank 1
>>383992919
The heal is better than Graverobber and Highwayman's NO HEAL, and rank 1 is the least important rank to kill.
>>383992917
>If she hits a marked target
this significantly cuts down the number of attacks you're putting out. and non-joke bosses have multiple turns, dividing your mark/debuff duration in 2 or 3
>>383986360
It should be a quick killer tbqh. You know what over confidence causes? Accidents and shit, and accidents are quick death.
>>383993020
What are you on about, Mark teams are a classic, consistently good on all patches.
Look at this screenshot, these guys all have either marks, or do bonus damage to marked. They have heal, stress heal, stun, crazy damage, AoE... Solid lineup.
>>383992919
>the heal is shit
A consistent heal that can be slightly lower than a Vestals and gets more potent after every use and be welcomed in a clutched situation by a guy getting critted and your healer applying a heal on top of the Arbalest heal buff? Are you crazy? I don't see why you are even comparing her to the Highwayman or Grave Robber. Grave Robber wants to be in the middle, the Highwayman wants to be in the front. The Arbalest wants to be in the back and is tanky compared to the other two.
Is it possible to do one class only run?
>>383993032
You know what over confidence causes? Thinking you can summon a Shambler here, the team health is high, we still have 2 slots in the inventory, we can do it before we head home.
>arbalest
>good
>>383993020
>this significantly cuts down the number of attacks you're putting out
If you run a mark party I don't think you are minding an Occultist missing his attack by marking someone due to his high speed.

>>383993118
>the_last_crusade.png
>>383993118

>>383993118
It's possible to completely fuck over Necromancers using only Crusaders: the only problem is getting to them.
>>383993109
>Arbalest
>tanky
arbalest can't dodge for shit
and I'm comparing her to those two because they do ranged damage and hit everything but are not trash
>>383993209
>>383993259
Man 4 Crusader sounds fun, I guess I will give it a try
>>383993262
She has 55 HP fully upgraded. A Man at Arms has 59 HP fully upgraded and he is considered a tank. Compared to 43 HP of the Highwayman or 36 HP of the Grave Robber, yes, yes the Arbalest is tanky.
>>383992650
If the enemy is crumbling slowly, it means they are grinding you to death via stress and attrition so yeah
>>383993262
>dodge
>good stat
Enemy accuracy increases much faster than your people's dodge, enemies will always have near 90% to hit (the max amount) unless you are specifically stacking dodge, which means you aren't taking damage or crit. And you wouldn't do that on any of the three characters discussed.
So in actual hard dungeons, Arbalest, Graverobber and Highwayman have the same 10% (minimum amount) chance to dodge.
>>383989708
Literally happened to me twice during my 4 hour session, so the meme is true
>>383990932
What's the new addon that reduces grinding? Love the game but the constant grinding is turn off.
>>383993118
There can also be a Hound Master only run as well.
>>383993537
>And you wouldn't do that on any of the three characters discussed
but I always stack dodge on my entire party. why would I ever not?
>>383991167
>And I feel bad for the Highwayman.
Of all the recruits he and the Bounty Hunter lost the least, they were just pieces of shit that one day incidentally looked in the mirror.
>>383993679
Because you could be stunning instead.
Stunning a high priority target = 1/3 of enemy potential is out.
Meanwhile dodge buffing is less than 30% chance to avoid enemy attacks.
I mean, stun is objectively more damage avoidance than dodge buff, and MAA has a good stun, why waste a turn buffing?
>>383993740
He is Indian you dumb ass.
>>383993636
addon is seperate, grinding was reduced in a patch
>>383993762
it's objectively not
>less than 30% chance
trinkets nigga
>>383993118
4 bounty hunters is a pretty funny party.
When the game first game out 4 Hellions was actually one the best teams in the game before breakthrough was nerfed.
>>383993537
>Enemy accuracy increases much faster than your people's dodge
That's like the only thing I found to be untrue about progressing through the game. Their dodge, damage, prot and resistance all increase by a lot from apprentice to veteran to champion. But their accuracy does not. I'm dodging way more on champion quests with upgraded armor and especially buffs than I were at the start of the game. I guess it's in line with the game's whole gambling theme, so dodge tanking outclasses prot tanking by far.
>>383993821
Taking dodge trinkets means you aren't taking damage trinkets, means the fight lasts longer, means the enemy has more chances to hit you, so even with a higher percentage you end up suffering more hits, and stress, over the course of the dungeon.
While stunning you can also choose which attack to avoid, dodging is random, you can dodge a shitty skeleton hit, and get devastated by some stress+mark hit.
Stun > dodge for damage avoidance. It avoids more, and you can select what to avoid.
>>383992748
Pffffhahahahahahhaha
She's literally carrying Swine Prince or any boss fight where the boss is on the back row
>>383993762
30% chance to completely ignore all the damage, statuses and debuffs all the enemies in the counter throw at you is huge. And it lasts for more than one round and doesn't have diminishing returns like stun.
>>383993919
>While stunning you can also choose which attack to avoid
yeah, which of the 4 attacks. and then on the next turn you can choose a different one because their resistance, or probably fail the stun
most damage trinkets have retarded downsides as far as I can tell, except some of the very high tier ones
>>383994039
That anon is right about one thing at least. Damage stacking is good for you. The best way to mitigate damage is not stun or dodge, but eliminating the enemy asap.
>>383986360
It's more akin to a flimsy shield.
>>383989586
>>383989285
Lost on these. Also, Reynauld is such a bro.
My only 5 lvl hero currently
>>383994039
>most damage trinkets have retarded downsides as far as I can tell
Sun and Moon Ring's down side is 10% stress. That is nothing compared to 15/20% damage and +10/15 accuracy. Berserk Mask is 15% damage, THREE SPEED, 15% stress, -5 accuracy, -10% virtue chance. Then you have some lower tier ones like damage stones that give 10% damage and -4 dodge or warrior's bracer with 15% damage on melee skills and -4 dodge. Then there are the slayer rings that give 25% damage to certain enemy type and -2 dodge.
Those are all really good, especially the sun/moon rings and there should be no reason to why you shouldn't use the rings due to the damage and accuracy bonuses.
>>383994126
I am that anon arguing for stun over dodge, and I don't think you have to eliminate the enemy ASAP.
I think you have to eliminate SOME enemies ASAP, specific high priority targets. Then you keep the low priority targets for a couple of rounds, so you can get heals and stress heals off.
My ideal fight is I kill the back rows in 1-3 rounds, then heal and stress heal while stunning the front rows, then kill the front rows. They are harmless enough to keep for a while, usually.
>>383994291
>DD4
>Everyone targets Reynauld dumping stress on him bringing him to 100 stress

You did good.
>>383990932
>I heard they reduced the grind with a new game mode as well
I do not find that to be true, all it does is level your guys very fast and you can't keep up with heirlooms or gold to upgrade so they're high lvl, but not really since they don't have the gear or skills.
>>383994357
>not camouflage cloak + sun cloak on everyone
I don't like how there's no way to increase blight/bleed damage with trinkets or whatever. all the dudes I like have that shit, it feels like +damage is only benefitting them half as much as characters with damage-only attacks

>>383994381
In my experience with this game so far, I noticed that I almost never can outheal the damage that is done to the part, even using the dedicated healing classes with specialized trinkets. And it's, again, in line with the game's design - every quest is an uphill battle, tarrying for too long by either sidetracking for loot or stalling in battle, usually results in your party bleeding even more health before you fulfill the quest objective.
>>383994605
I usually bring both a scouting stone and ancestors map. If I have a Hound Master I would bring his whistle as well.

Scouting is too good not to bring, I feel.
Also, I haven't finished the game yet, I have 2 more Darkest Dungeons runs to do, but I am bored of endgame. I want to start a new estate and do the initial hobo phase, where you can't optimize and you have to deal with what you get. I like that earlier phase of games.
However, in games like Civilization and Mount&Blade this leads to me constantly restarting, and only playing the first stages of a game, quitting when I get into "late game". I am not sure I want to do this to Darkest Dungeons too, it was meant to be my recovery game, the game that made me finish games again.

So what's the Flagellant's backstory? His CC trinkets don't really tell you anything about him that we don't already know, unlike every other hero.
>>383998521
Yeah, but it doesn't do anything else. Most other stress healers, even the really shitty crusader one still at least removes you from death's door and recovers some light, and the beastmaster's stress heal might not put on a stress% buff later, but heals the same amount of stress on two targets, literally twice as good.
Not to mention any turn you're spending healing stress with a Jester, you're not shuffling, and you should ALWAYS be shuffling. They gave a top teir stress heal to perhaps one of the only classes that can't work it into their build.
What's the normal party composition if I want to use the Jester finale meme?
>I see you don't have a MaA to protect your first two rows...

Occultist is nice, but can someone redpill me on the Antiquarian?
It's just a class you take along to make your journey harder, right?
IT'S OVER, LOW STRESS, I HAVE THE HIGH SPEED.
>>383999496
It's the class for gold farming. Interact with curios with her selected and she will loot some extra stuff. Plus, I think she can stack gold in larger amounts in every inventory slot. Also acts like a gimped support MAA by spamming dodge buff every turn.
>>383998857

>>383999496
Antiquarian can get you lots of loot. If you interact with her on curios she can loot extra items and extra antiques only she can find. She can also stack up loot more in your inventory so you can end up carrying more.
Invigorating Vapors and Protect Me are both good skills.
>>383999608
>>383999670

>>383999579

>>383999613
Get the Jester as much speed as you can from quirks or trinkets, even if it is something like On Guard for first round speed. Put the Jester in the front with the best damage trinkets like the Moon Ring, Berserk Mask, or the Pen, then click on an enemy and either delete them or severely damage them.
Use herbs to take off the debuff if you are planning to rotate him back to the front row right away. I usually run Finale, Dirk Stab, Slice Off, and Inspiring Tune if I were to go for a Finale build.
>>383999706
*snort*
>>383999780
Dont get me wrong, I believe you, I'm just angry.
I know that the game expects me to learn a lot of the mechanics on my own, but this is just hilariously stupid. With such RNG based loot such as "light being low = high loot because ???" there would be almost no controlled point for anyone to learn that an Antiquarian gets bonus loot.
>>383999837
It doesn't.
>>383999579
You underestimate my stress heal.
>>383999875

>>384000018
No, see, that's what I've just been saying. The game is so RNG dependent that there's no possible fucking way that anyone who hasn't read online would notice that you're getting a bonus. Each package is always either complete shit, or a goldmine- even MORE random if it's dark. Normally, unless you're using a specific item (example: Using a shovel on a grave) there's never any example of the player getting an idea that whoever you're clicking on things mattering in the slightest, other than their potential resistances to fallback.
I know about the bonus trinkets and shit, but the just bonus loot thing I argue is ranged anywhere from unreasonable to impossible to be noticed.

Leper is amazing desu and he clearly doesn't understand how to play outside of a few limited strategies.
He has plenty of applications to various annoying scenarios, and shuffles are frankly irrelevant to a Leper's effectiveness because nearly every comp that isn't specifically a shuffle party relies on specific heroes in positions regardless. If your PD is moved to the front it doesn't matter that she can still use an ability, she's still not doing her job if she isn't at the back, and with the Leper it doesn't matter if he could do shit at the back, you would just move him forward anyway.
Leper is also a component in speedrunning strats and that already makes him a top contender - his concept of "high level play" is irrelevant in the face of people using the Leper to complete the entire game in 16 weeks.
So yeah, "Leper is bad" shitters need to learn to play. He's not some godly hero like Hellion but he's still fine.

Deal with stress dealers first. That doesn't always fly on harder difficulties, but it'll do you well in the early stages. If you can't kill them or stun them, rethink your team comp.

Yeah, survivalist could do with a few upgrade tiers to slightly increase gold and heirloom stacking limits.

Bring either a stress healer or a team stacking crit chance.
Be aware of how much +stress is on your heroes. Consider bringing -stress trinkets.
Kill stress dealers first.
Wait a turn or two before killing the last enemy so you can get in a heal or two.
Use camping abilities.
If you really have to, you can cheese it by leaving two ranks you can out heal alive and stall while healing up. Although this strategy is generally looked down upon because of how it abuses mechanics in a way that's most likely not intended.
>>384018768

>>383994801
Honestly, the biggest problem in the game is that you can't dick around anymore in the hardest difficulties.
All flexibility goes out he window in the late game and it's nowhere near as fun as apprentice and veteran dungeons where you can scrap with whatever characters and still make it through by the skin of your teeth.
How do I gather the courage to go on my first darkest dungeon quest?
>>384018550
>used goods
She is quite literally a virgin.
To reference my previous post one of her masochistic lines is, "My mortified flesh armors me against your hate!"
The definition of mortify in this case being to, "subdue (the body or its needs and desires) by self-denial or discipline."
Also, the title of Vestal is taken from the Vestal Virgins, roman priestesses of Vesta who take a vow of chastity.
And in your own post she refers to herself as a virgin.
>>384019743
You just roll that dice
>went to my first ever darkest dungeon with crusader, graverobber, occultist and arbalest
>only the graverobber survived
>crusader had a "courageous" epic last turn before dying to a bleed
Just keep in mind that everything in there is gonna hit hard, stress you a lot and tag high damage DoTs
>>384019854

>>384019854
>>384019968

>>384019189
Since you failed to notice, allow me to point out the fact that I did not speak in certainties.
I said, "is generally looked down upon" as in my experience there has been quite the amount of complaining about people who use this strategy.
I also said, "most likely" as they did put in some measures to prevent it, which in my mind means they want to discourage the tactic.
I imagine the reason they didn't increase the number further was because they didn't want to massively screw over people who are bad at the game, since they also didn't implement this for the Pelagic Guardian/Bulwark/Champion most likely because of its large health pool and protection. Unless you intend to argue that the Pelagic Guardian/Bulwark/Champion is intended to be stalled against by the developers.
Remind yourself that bacon is a slow and delicious killer.

>>384016203
Get speed since stress dealers are fast. You can get this through items and quirks. Majority of all stress dealers are in the back row so they have to be dealt with. All stress dealers are different so don't don't always have to go in for the kill. The fishmen and wine skeleton stress dealers only knife stab from rank 1 so if you pull them up there then you are safe from their stress attack unless a monster shuffles them back. Plague Doctors, Occultists, Grave Robbers, Hellions, Abominations, and some other decently fast classes are great to use on them. Hit them really hard or stun them so they don't get the chance to stress you. Stun the front line guys or shuffle them into a position in which they use ineffective attacks like clumsy ax or stumbling scratch to avoid getting crit by them.
Back line will always be the most important enemies to take out first initially every fight. Though in champion dungeons your priorities might change on which back row enemies are a real threat.
>nerfed Jester
I kind of like the finale buff thing on his other moves. the only shit thing is only being able to use it once per fight desu
*blocks your path*
>>384025887
I don't think it's the worst one of them.
>>383986360
No its a pretty quick killer. Overconfident people do some dangerous shit.
>>384008958
You don't understand his complaints. If you are shuffled the Leper can only move up one rank. If he is at rank four it would take a couple too many turns getting him to the front, especially since he has a high chance in going last so it would take two turns to get him to rank 2 before he can be effective. Not only that he has no effectiveness in killing rank 3 and 4 monsters which are the ones you want to kill at the start of the fight since they are either stress dealers or the ranks champion monsters appear in. Those ranks will always have targets in which you want to kill within one or two rounds and the Leper cannot do anything about them, maybe shuffle the rank three guy to rank two but do you want to use a skill like purge like that on turn one that does no damage and the enemy could possibly shuffle back to rank three easily within the next round?
He has no stuns so he cannot stall for a little bit of healing or stress healing as well as other classes. He has low accuracy which will force you to get trinkets just to buff his accuracy to acceptable levels while on other classes you can give them items that boost their damage or better yet their speed as well making them act before enemies do.
While I do enjoy using the Leper it is a class that has much bigger drawbacks than other ones.
>>384019059
I think it's in reference to the fact that characters can sometimes hear impure things going on in the church and have a chance of getting the faithless trait because of it. Or something. I forget the debuff exactly.
>>384026663
I'm a a dirty cheater, so whilst screwing around with the game config files, at changed Leper's "Buff dmg/ debuff prot" ability to be usable from all positions and added "forward 3" to it as well.
The catch is that I made the ability only usable once per battle, so if the Leper gets surprised/pushed to rank 3 or 4, you can blow the one use and shoot up to rank 1 in hyper mode.
So far it seems pretty fuckin fun without breaking the game. Frankly I think it's the one thing he really needs

Usually for specialized characters. Either doing damage, scouting, healing, or stunning. Though speed is good across all roles. Sometimes you want a special stat due to a boss, like trinkets that add to your move chance, debuff resist, or chance to debuff, but you won't be using those as frequently.
