I didn't hate it, but I didn't like it either. It has its moments, but I hated all of the main characters except for Bea and I didn't like her that much either. The most fun I had was with that Palecat game. Awesome visuals and music, though. The frigging sweet music during the dream sequences almost made up for how boring and pointless they were.

No, it's completely optional and it has no effect on the rest of the game other than a page in the book if you beat it with the good ending. It's fun, though. A bit short and easy, but fun.

the only good things about it are the artstyle and music
story is alright in the beginning, but it gets fucking ruined towards the end because of the cult
writing is embarrassingly bad, it felt like i was reading something by a bunch of 30 somethings meant to pander to edgy 15 year olds

i also hate when people force politics into games, so that also really made me dislike it

it's a 4/10 at best. its only saving grace is the music and art.

Bea does mention that, but she doesn't really talk about it. I wouldn't say that count. And the cult at the end just seemed like the typical cult that sacrifices people in exchange for their shitty town thriving. You know, Insmouth and such. That's a common trope. I didn't really feel that the game had any sort of agenda.

I felt as if the whole "fuck the system" narrative that the main/secondary characters had going for actually added to their character. they were all dumb as fuck teenagers that felt betrayed by the government (even though most of their issues were from either themselves or from some uncontrollable factor) I enjoyed it, but only because I made the decision of taking everyone's advice here and expect nothing from it.
turns out if you expect absolutely nothing, you're bound to be surprised by it.
