Dead Space is a more polished RE4. The only thing RE4 has over it is the humor and one liners, though they really wouldn't fit with the rest of the game.

2 is a different game than 1. It's more linear, much more actiony, the controls are smoother, the enemies are much faster, and there are less emphasis on horror. But on the gameplay, it's the straight upgrade from the first one. Depends on who you ask, they usually like the first one and hate the second one, and vice versa. Personally I love both and 2 is my favorite in the series.

3 is like 2 but it's awful. Never get it.

Dead Space 2 was kino just for allowing you to go through the whole game without cutting away to a loading screen. You could play it all as one seamless experience.

I never played 3, so I have no comment.

1 and 2 are equally as good from someone that's played both, albeit 1 had more of the wow experience because it came first.

I spaced out for a while and eventually came back to this thread. These posts made me think I was still in the Gex thread.

2 was my favorite. A good action game with a
horror atmosphere. 1 was great but it never really scared me so im glad they went with more action in 2......but ultimately regret it because of 3

First two games were pretty good, but the 3rd game was worst in almost every aspect. Levels were repeatitive much of the game was too open and ammunition was too plentiful. Co-op meme probably killed the franchise.
