Surprisingly good show, had a fun time with it. The dialogue was trying WAY too hard to be edgy, but other than that it was pretty damn good.

The action is pretty good and the story is ok, but I have a real problem with the voice acting as well as the sound in general. None of the voices actually sound like they're coming from the people. They all sound like VO.

I just watched this whole thing today. When it actually stuck to the lore and content from SotN/CVIII, it was really good. The fight scenes were also pretty good. But most of it was just pointless filler dialogue with tons of cussing. We get it, everyone is angry and likes to say fuck a lot. I guess they're going for the Adult Swim demographic.

The voice acting was also rather weak. Probably should hire a new dubbing director for season 2.

It didn't feel that way to me. The four episodes were definitely standalone and the overall arc felt less like a movie and more like a season that got cancelled halfway through. There's really very little development. In about 80 minutes, they've introduced one character and two minor characters, and they team up to stop a vampire. I guess a lot of this is implied, but I think they could be done better, and four episodes was definitely not enough with this pacing.

There were a few Kino scenes though. Specifically the opening of E4. I'm looking forward to the next season.

You were around in the 1400s and know exactly how they talk? Also, it actually is a fact that people cussed a lot more back then. Not just peasants but the royals as well. But still, this is media aimed at a contemporary audience. Writing for TV is a delicate balance between writing to a period and writing what your audience wants. This show is on netflix so it doesn't have to conform to regulations. But at the same time, jamming something full of expletives isn't going to help a show in all cases.

Even overlooking the cussing, the way the characters act doesn't really strike me as how they would have been in the games. I mean, at the very start of Castlevania III, Trevor is praying at an altar inside a destroyed church. Yet they play Trevor off as a loner who hates the church in this adaptation. Little things like that may not seem like much, but they add up in your sub conscious and the show feels less 'genuine' over time. Even if you can't consciously tell why.

My only problem is that Trevor turns around way too quickly for someone who has apparently been a drunkard for a while.

The character doesn't really redeem itself except it starts doing badass stuff.
When he takes out the cloak it reminded me of Ash vs the Evil Dead, when the character spends a whole chapter looking like he can barely defend himself and suddenly he rips off his wallmart clothes and kicks ass again.
But for Ash vs the Evil dead it worked because you're not meant to take it seriously.

The audio mixing is fucked when someone isn't on screen, dialogue is shit, Belmont is just a cookie cutter edgy anime protagonist. Gave me no reason to care about any of the other characters.
