I can't for it, it also got me very excited for the future of 2D Metroid, Sakamoto seeing popularity in the Metroidvania genre, Samus Returns opening up the potential of the 2D Metroid franchise, and Sakamoto giving hints that Metroid Dread (Metroid 5) will be the next project.

My problem with this game, as I have with most 2.5D games, is that the character animations look a little clunky. For me it kinda kills the enjoyment of gameplay.

All it says here is that no one knows anything about it. That it showed up in a couple of listings and disappeared just as quickly, and that Nintendo refuses to comment on it.
Nothing here about it being a sequel to Fusion, or "the original script."
That Prime 3 screenshot is funny though. Retro devs confirmed that was just a coincidence.

Dude, it's not a remake to Metroid II, there will never be a remake to Super Metroid and Dread ain't that either, they aren't making a 2D prequel to Metroid/Zero Mission, Metroid Dread was a supposed 2D Metroid game that was conceptualized for the DS and was going to be a sequel to Metroid Fusion.
Already confirmed by Sakamoto that it was a conconcept for a 2D Metroid for the DS, wasn't Metroid Other M, and isn't Metroid Samus Returns. Sakamoto in 2010 confirmed that he would like to restart that project from scratch. Metroid Dread was and will be the long awaited sequel to Metroid Fusion, whether or not it will be named Dread when it's finally announced is questionable.
