I started playing it a week ago and I seriously cannot put it down, the story and lore has got me hooked. It's also the first Witcher game I've ever played.

Outskirts is one of my favourite areas and I loved parts of the swamp like the golem quest.
Temple Quarter is great too.

The only real flaw I had with TW1 is how stiff the hands look on all models, but I guess that's because it;s basically built on a butchered NWN2 engine. Great game, great atmosphere, beautiful UI design and I had a ton of fun with it.

A few years ago before TW3 was released I replayed TW1 for the second time but with FCR on hard mode and I think it was the single most fun I have ever had with a video game. Enough time had passed so that I forgot most of the smaller details and the writing is good enough that knowing the larger ones didn't detract from the game. The combat was also incredibly fun when it was so much harder because putting thought into how I was building and equipping Geralt became essential. I think it took me about fifty hours because some encounters where incredibly difficult and aside from the minor furstration they provided I loved every second of it.

Why no combat stances in 2 and 3. A missed opportunity to have different light and strong attacks animations for the the 3 stances. Would have made the combat more interesting to have some sort of combos and quick switching between stances giving different playstyles.

Honestly it was hard for me to get into, I've dropped it twice before eventually finishing the game. Once you know what to expect it's a really good game.
I've been playing 2 these days, it's good but there are some retarded decisions like adding QTE's (especially in boss fights) and using potions only when meditating. Also dice roll is fucking ass in this game.

Honestly I don't disagree with him about atmosphere. I think the whole game has amazing atmosphere. But a solid three or four fifths of that game is a fucking chore to play through. People always say to wait until you get to the grasslands/farmlands area, but all that happens is you get some slightly nicer scenery to go along with your still boring as fuck questing. The story doesn't start to get good until it starts to end, and the only thing that carries over from that game is the last cutscene, and a single (ONE) note from Alvin or whoever the fuck he was in Witcher 3. That's it. The game is almost entirely irrelevant outside of those, and Shani's appearance in a DLC.

Loved the fuck out the witcher. I'm playing 2 now and it doesn't feel like the original. The combat is clunky and roll roll roll.

It just lacks the charm. I'm trying to enjoy it though but I'm not getting too immersed like I did with 1. I played on the hardest difficulty and had a great time challenging myself. Witcher two is just artificial difficulty on dark. But I'm doing it so I can enjoy 3 more.
