I wan't to discuss mech games with you, /v/.
All mech games are good to varying degrees. The important part is that the focus is the cool awesome giant robots who shoot at eachother and possibly giant aliens and/or monsters.
What we need less of are crying anime kids in robots who make the whole thing about them and how their feelings got hurt and how they'll defeat the bad guy with love and friendship.
>>383925986
Mechwarrior 5 soon, fellow mechwarrior. I just hope PIG will put more effort into its single player project than they did into the initial stages of MWO.
>>383927284
If they keep there word on keeping it strictly SP. I think it will come out good.
Mechs are cool
>never played Xenogears
>still havent
>but somehow love the Kung Fu robot
What makes it good?
Never played Armored Core but I want to at some point. tell me, which one do I start with? Is it better played chronologically? Which ones should I avoid?
Are there any good gundam games
didn't really like the musou one
>>383928002
I asked the same thing last mech/AC thread and they said start with the PS2 ones and go through release order.
So start with Armored core 2 and when you're done with that play Armored core 2: AA
I recorded some gameplay, I'll try to make some webms of it. Brb
>>383928248
Zeonic Front if you like Rainbow 6
>>383928002
AC3 and Silent Line are the best imo, very steep learning curves but also the best missions and enemies in the series, as well as the best music and lore. The oldest games are aging poorly but AC2 and Master of Arena are still really fun, with Master of Arena having the best final mission in the series. AC4 and 4A have really fun combat but also trail a bit far from the AC formula and because of the speed meta, all non-hitscan weapons are worthless. ACV and VD are a nice middle ground between the original mechanics and 4A's speed but are littered with anime fanfiction-tier writing and lore. Not that the lore is ever particularly good.
Nexus and Last Raven are the hardest games, but not in a good way. Being forced to kneel to fire cannons when the AI can literally free-fly with their cannons drawn is horseshit.
>>383925986
We've got the Battletech vidya coming out this year by HBS.
>>383928460
>>383928678
Thanks.
Sounds like I should start with AC2 then.
>>383928787
If you can manage it, start with Master of Arena. AC2 is a sequel in some pretty fun ways.
>>383925986
Mech games are NOT worth reviving until devs stop being lazy fucks and finally implement FULL environmental destruction.
These are 50+ foot mechs for fucks sake and the physics should reflect that.
>>383928691
Yeah, it looks decently so far. Albeit the budget is shoe-string and it clearly shows.
>A game based on making a tabletop version of robot anime.
>Tabletop game itself is a copy of Japanese board games.
>The new game is mostly a basic Japanese SRPG in disguise.
All is right in the world.
Mech
>>383928787
It feels like a good place to start, not as fast paced as the newer ones and not as clunky as the PS1 ones. A good mix between the two.
The controlls takes a bit getting used to, but once you´ve got some missions going it gets better by the minute.
>>383931864
>autoaim
LMAO, is this what passes for for mech games in the realm of consoleshitters?
>>383933559
>giant futuristic robot
>not having some type of auto targeting system
but why?
>>383929123
Well I heard it's set in 3025 which is apparently the starting timeline of the battletech board game, so less clans and more succession wars. If the game is somewhat customizable like how they worked with SR Returns then there should be viable mod support for it as well so you can have custom campaigns.
Best part is now we got melee combat. So guessing if any future DLC campaigns or settings we'll get Hatchetman/Axman in it.
>>383933559
> His Robot makes him manually aim
Fucking weak my man
>>383929034
This tbqh senpai
>>383934579
Wiseman said on stream he really wants the Hatchetman in at some point, so I think we might see it post launch.

>>383934546

>wanting autoaim in your robot
>in the fucking future where ECM and jamming capabilities are present on every toaster
LMAO. Front Mission 3 shows exactly how shitty mechs reliant on autoaim are. Actually good mechs rely on manual aim of their pilots which is made extremely comfortable and easy through a neural interface like in Battletech.
>>383934546
Minovsky particles my dude
>>383934546
>>383934672
>>383936119
This is why you don't rely on an automated FCS in the future.
No mech thread is going to die on my watch.
Also, nuHighlander > every other mech in existence.
>>383934579
Melee is actually a bit overpowered in the beta. You still do full melee damage, even if your mech has been shot to shit, lost all its guns, both arms, and a leg.
>>383938854
We all know Mauler is the best mech
>>383939503
Da fuq? Do you not need arms to attack in melee?
>>383939686
>some scrapheap that can't even jump
>anywhere near good, let alone best
lmao
>>383935957
you want a MOBA with robots?
YES
This is pleasing to me
>>383939823
>Highlander
More like the Facelander
Zeus is the best assault everyone knows that
>>383939726
Nope, the attack animation will be more of a chest slam type. If the target is on the ground, it will be a stomp.
>>383940046
>80 ton """assault"""
>no jumpjets
>>383926170
This. all mechs are good mechs.
>>383925986
>wan't
My brain couldn't comprehend this.
Any good recommendations for mech games OP?My only exposure is Armored Core, Metal Gear, and ZOE

Anon, he played and (presumably/hopefully) finished an Armored Core game.
There's only going down in difficulty from there if we're talking mech games.
Is there any way to get MW3 running on Win 10 at all? Help me out here /v/
>>383941151
>comparing arcade shooter trash to an actual mech simulator game
Never go full weebcuck.
>>383941193
Use dgvoodoo and framecap at 60fps
>>383941395
I'll try it out thx senpai
>>383941306
Mechwarrior is still a fun game even if it's just an arcade shooter in the end you cock-mongling, Clan-loving, House Davion playing Gausswall denying imbecile.
>>383941561
>Mechwarrior
>arcade shooter
As I've said, never go full weebcuck.
>>383941676
>arcade shooter
Yes, it is. Go ask Wiesman if you're in denial about it. Or PGI employees, or the MW4 developers,...
It is an Ace Combat-like game. An arcade game with a gift wrap of a simulator.
>B-But.
I worked with MEKTEK people you autism-ball. I helped mod this piece of shit. You're but a random retard with a weak piece of bait.
>>383942075
Hit a nerve, didn't I? It's OK, maybe your gook overlords will one day manage to shit out a decent mech game with a first person cockpit view, don't loose hope, weebshitter!
>>383941676
It's literally just tank controls my dude
>>383940701
Is this game purely survival mode or does this have actual objective that isn't "destroy everything"? Because the gameplay really doesn't look fun.
>>383941676
>Muh mech games are realistic
Oh fuck off, they're goddamn giant robots.
>>383942410
No, you just go on missions that have the exact same "kill this shit and this shit and this shit" over and over again.
>>383942338
If by "tank controls" you mean separation of torso and leg movement, then I'm OK with that. MWO goes even further and separates the arms as well, allowing you to control them separately from leg and torso movement.
>There will never be a Starsiege 2
Why live
>>383942410
Campaign has more varied objectives, freelance doesn't. 40 weapons and over 50 vehicles make it fun enough for me, though. And hey, you asked for full destruction.
>>383942556
>Campaign has more varied objectives
doesn't though
>>383942484
>simulator games have to be realistic
>what are a shitload of space flight sims on PC
>>383942712
Well, they're more varied and so are circumstances, and there's more of a "story element".
>>383942719
>what are a shitload of space flight sims on PC
Exactly that, a shitload.of shit
>>383943174
This is how I know you're a retarded consolecuck.
>>383928528
Never played Rainbow Six.
I remembered seeing an ad for Zeonic Front in a game cheats magazine a long time ago, I still have the magazine and just looked at the ad again, it's a PS2 game. I wish I had a PS2.
>>383927284
the initial stages of MWO was when it was at its best though. the game started going to shit once "open beta" hit.
>>383943818
>initial stages of MWO

>its just some wildlander fucker is floating across the ground going super fast
>shoots fucking exploding discuses at me
>can't even lock on hes moving so fast
>legs can't turn that quick eather
>wonder why our mechs can't torso twist while getting blasted to pieces by some magic floating wildlander throwing magic blue discuses
I've seen some shit.
>>383941306
>Pretending that Mechwarrior is a simulator
Wow anon, what a shitty way to play for validation. Mechwarrior is as much of a "simulator" as Out-Run.
>>383946251
If Freelancer is a simulator, so is Mechwarrior. Eat shit.
>>383946442
You can't simulate something that doesn't exist in the first place jackass.
>>383946603
>You can't simulate something that doesn't exist in the first place
So the space combat sim genre doesn't exist, huh? Dumbfuck.
>>383928787
Yes, definitely start with 2 and pretty much play the PS2 games in order (2, Another Age, 3, Silent Line, Nexus, Ninebreaker [skippable], Last Raven)
The PS2 games get progressively harder, as by the end of the run, FROM basically assumed anybody still playing AC had been playing it for years and years. The original PS1 trilogy (Armored Core, Project Phantasma, Master of Arena) are good if you already love AC, but at this point they're a little too dated and clunky for most people. 2 smoothed out a lot of the rough edges. Of them, Master of Arena is your best bet at still enjoying it if you're not REALLY into the series.
4th gen is awful twitch boost-spam, like a shittier version of Gundam Vs. or Virtual On. 5th gen corrected some of those mistakes, but is still a good several leaps away from traditional AC formula and introduced a really miserable rock-paper-scissors damage model.
