I don't think Dante has as much depth in 4 as people claim. On the fly style switching is cool but all of the styles are stripped down versions of things from 3, with a knockoff Darkslayer being his 5th style instead of Quicksilver and Doppleganger. His weapon movesets are honestly shitty unless you're in the air when in 3 you had nice ground & aerial movesets. He also only has two completely new weapons. There's no reason he couldn't have had Nero's weapons and arm as a style or weapon, Nero has no reason to exist(he's DMC3 Dante but not as crazy & better with girls). You could say Nero is teaching you how to play Dante but his lack of styles means you aren't learning arguably the most important part of 4 Dante's moveset. 4 could've been a story exclusively about Dante, explaining why he's the way he is in 2, and it would've been better for it

honestly, DmC is better than other western action games, but it completely pales in comparison to any legit Japanese action game. DMC1 is way better than DmC and that game is has a really basic and simple combat system and is from 2001.

DMC1 only had 4 bosses repeated throughout the game, Phantom being one of them but he was in DMC2 as well. Nightmare in DMC1 was worse than all the bosses in DMC2, so that leaves the other two.

The other cons are all fair, but not enough to make DMC2 worse than DMC1.
Note I'm not pretending DMC2 was a good game, but I fail to see how people believe DMC1 was any better.
