Why do people like Dead Rising so much?
>>
>>383915320
It's fun.
>>
>>383915320
Because it's a great game?
>>
>I encountered a glitch in a video game. I WONT STAND FOR THIS!
>>
>Piss4

That explains it.
>>
It's very playful, creative, and the whole limitation by time is actually a pretty powerful way to get you immersed, and hugely underused narrative trick.

I personally never particularly enjoyed this brand of silly mindless fun, but I can understand why a lot of people who are less pretentious than I am could have a hell of a time here.
>>
>>383915415
I think that is beyond OP's comprehension
>>
>>383915320
It's a good game but the time limit is too much for my anxiety
>>
>>383915320
the ps4 version of this game is actually fucked up. there will be times where frank rolls randomly
>>
>>383915519
the sad part is when the faggot reposts it over and over and pretends like its a big deal, like what? who the fuck cares?

what a fucking loser
>>
>>383916418
that was in every console version of the game, its not just the ps4

its the way crapcom binded the controls to moving the joystick upwards twice in rapid succession

Yes, every single game needs to be absolutely flawless in every regard or else it's literally unplayable.

Cool.

The first 2.5 games were fucking amazing.

Why do people like zombie games so much in general? Left 4 dead, dead rising. All it is is slaughtering lots of the same enemies in the same setting for hours.
>>
>>383916879
....because people like zombies?
>>
>>383915320
>sonyfags
>>
>>383916879
It was more interesting before the industry ran it into the ground.
>>
I know a lot of people hate Dead Rising 3 but the combat in it is quite a bit improved over 2.
>>
>>383916726
probably because with games a glitch cost you maybe a couple minutes a quick reboot or death and its back to normal a glitch in a microwave leads to cold food or death its not really the same
>>
>>383916418
That was in the original Xbox version too and it's more how sensitive pushing the stick is. I wished they mapped the roll to another button, because that shit was always annoying.
>>
>>383916726
To be fair, a 'glitch' for most industries is a lot more dangerous than disappointing your consumers.

You can't sue vidya for getting stuck in a rock like you can a car company for faulty airbags.

Its fun, specially to think "what would be the best way to beat the times, and pick all the survivors"

The biggest flaw of the first game that I remember....
FUCKING SURVIVORS AI IS GARBAGE!!!!
you have 3 or more?
they will get stuck in the stairs and dont follow.
you have to push them with your body trying to get them to move...

outside of that, It was fun to find the best routes.

Sadly 3 and 4 went away from this because people cry timers are hard, even if alot of the time they are generous.

>>383917795
>MOOOOOOOOOOT
Who?
>>
>>383916879
Dead rising 1, 2 and even 3 at times had some pretty fun bosses. Dead rising 1 also had the strict timer going for it which was really fun trying to get the true ending on a fresh level 1 playthrough. Casual faggots bitched about the time mechanic, though.
>>
>>383915320
you can't blame dead rising for that, DSP has some fucking gift or something that causes shit like that to happen somehow, i don't know how he does it.

WOOOOOOOW ONLINE TACTICS
>>
>>383918045
I'm playing through Dead Rising 1 for the first time recently, and so far the only harsh timer has been the one to get Brad medicine. I reloaded a save and made sure the beat the clown to get that short cut, then I used his chainsaw on the shoping mart boss. Without that shit I probably would have been stuck there.

Also it is hard trying to balance things you can do on a first play through, and I can see how that would easily frustrate players.
>>
>>383918365
I may be wrong, but im pretty sure its super hard if not impossible to save everybody during the first play through.
if you make a second run, your character keep all the leveling up stuff.
>>
>>383918365
Always have a quick step drink handy, anon. It helps alot for hauling ass to an objective. IIRC it was coffee creamer + coffee creamer/orange juice/snack and wine + other alcohols that make it.

>>383916504
I don't think this was a glitch. I think he just got shot in the back by Carlito. You can see the bullet behind him.
>>
>>383918958
It's technically possible, but simply unfeasable with the combination of you being as weak as a limp noodle, not knowing the map by heart, and not having any of the bonus weapons (like the Real Mega Buster) to clear out hordes easily.
>>
>>383915320
Honestly I only liked the first one
>>
>>383916726
Glitches in vidya are much harder to test for due to the dynamic nature of games and most glitches that dont get taken care of by devs arent game breaking in the slightest, at worst you have to reset to when you last saved and its fine.

If a game has a game breaking glitch that would cause you to have to reset your whole save (like a progression glitch or corrupted savefile) its usually considered pretty much unplayable
>>
>>383919115
Yeah, this isn't a glitch.

The bullet hits him from an angle and causes knockback, he lands on the railing, you're not supposed to stand there so it pushes him off in the direction of his momentum.
>>
>>383915320
Sony shitters didn't deserve this game
>>
>>383918365
I don't think anyone is pressured by the case timers themselves. They usually just end up dicking around with survivors and probably saving at a bad time. People also don't like being told "you can't do everything in one playthrough", and you really can't on the first playthrough without a ton of game knowledge you don't know.

When I replayed it for the PC release, even knowing the game like the back of my hand and being able to rescue all survivors from memory, I still almost made it impossible to reach a case in time due to a bad save.
>>
>>383915320
What's the diferences of OG version and Steam version? I'm thinking in get it.
>>
>>383916879
The zombies aren't really what make Dead Rising fun. They pretty much just serve as moving obstacles, story elements and target dummies to test weapons and tricks on. The real fun of the game comes from the psychopaths and exploring the environment. I use to have so much fun using skills like the Karate Chop and Football Tackle on psychos and beating them without weapons.

>>
>>383920036
Pretty much everything is the same cept it's 1080p and 60fps. Minor changes like a shirt that had topless tits in the original 360 version has a bra on now, same for some topless paintings. A major bug that cause a crash in the food court in infinity mode at a certain time got fixed too.
>>
>>383915320
I think it's charmingly clunky like deus ex or fallout new vegas
>>
>>383919795
It was easy as tits and also boring 75% of the time since you'd spend most of it sitting in a safe spot slowly burning food while holding all the food books. I only had to restart it once because I didn't know about the food court glitch that crashed your game if you went in at a specific time.

Fuck the timer, it's the main thing preventing me from enjoying DR.

You don't need to do everything on the first playthrough or even the main story. Explore and fuck around for a few runs. By the time you're done doing that you'll have a few levels on you and beating the timer gets significantly easier.

no, because at least I have hope it won't happen any time soon.

>>
>>383921692
Are you braindead retarded? The timer is optional, you can still do nearly EVERY side scoop without doing any of the main story cases. The timer creates tension for the main story, and an overarching sense of urgency on your first couple playthroughs which is a good thing. It feels like you have a fucking goal, because you do. You're meant to accomplish that goal, because it's a story driven game done in a unique and interesting way. BUT the story is also completely optional. You can choose to never do it and just play the game like a sandbox.

People like you ruined this fucking series

I have always thought that the point of dead rising isnt button mashing throught zombies.
Is getting throught the fastest possible to save the survivors and killing the bosses the best way possible.

But the franchise change focuse and thought the point is just killing zombies in goofy ways and nothing else.
and even more removing psychopats... probably because time and money, or maybe fearing SJW backlash from the stereotypes.

>>
>>383915320
The original game was something unique and novel. Gameplay-wise it was an action game with one foot into survival horror, you controlled kinda clunky and even a single zombie can inflict significant damage especially early on, and missions were all under a global time limit. Set in an open world mall, this leads to the player exploring the locations, experimenting with the best routes/weapons, finding the locations of the best gear, I'd argue it taps into the exploration aspect that the Souls games also taps into, the idea of difficult circumstances encouraging and rewarding exploration. But it was rough around the edges, controls were weirdly mapped, survivor AI was braindead, etc.

Second game had a weaker story and a more outlandish location that moved away from the "this could be a real place" feel of the original mall BUT I must admit, it improved on the gameplay heaps. OTR added a much requested sandbox mode.

DR3 threw that in the bin with a big open city with cars, the ability to summon any weapon you want and a greater focus on action. You can wade through hundreds of zombies unscathed with ridiculously stupid combo weapons and the game becomes a musou hack n slash. But you know what? That's okay, kinda. If you treat it as its own game, it's a mildly amusing action hack n slash with low difficulty but still stuff to explore and mess with.

As someone who grew to like DR3 and doesn't hate change in video games, Dead Rising 4 is complete fucking garbage. Do not ever buy it, not even on sale. It's less polished, has less content, has less gameplay elements. It's really bad even compared to DR3, seriously stay the fuck away. I can't believe they fucked it up this badly. I was expected DR3-2, not what feels like a budget title spinoff.

Guys, chill, there's a solution to this and it was actually in the games.

In DR1 if you dick around in the prologue long enough you can prevent the main story missions from even starting, so you don't have to feel bad about missing them and can do the side-cases at your leisure. Without the main missions you get plenty of time, DR1 was meant to be replayed like this.

If you wanted true freedom, OTR added an optional Sandbox mode that lets you explore without timer SEPARATE from the main story. Different gameplay modes, that way the main story still has urgency which encourages exploration to find the best routes and items, while also having a separate timer-free mode to dick around in.

The Groundhog Day-esque repetition and time management was the best part of DR. I love it but so few games do it.

It was ported a while back, also Xbone and PC.
>>
>>383923286
Or you could just you know, fail the mission and continue
>>
>>383923108
THEY ALSO REMOVED SIDE-CASES

Yeah not just psychos, ALL the side missions are gone. The only side missions are repeatable random events like "clear zombies around randomly generated survivor". I really liked DR3's varied and voice-acted side-cases that didn't always end in a survivor escort, sometimes ending in a non-psycho miniboss or something else interesting. So to remove THE WHOLE THING really screamed "we really did not put any effort into making this game".
>>
>>383923546
Absolutely true, but that's not obvious to a first-time gamer who might think failure=restart. I think they should've added an option that lets you disable the story quests so you don't have to feel bad about missing them. That's the kind of "accessibility" change that doesn't actually change the gameplay, only how the game is perceived by newcomers.

you fucking idiot. its goofy BECAUSE its timed. if it wasnt goofy, it'd be oppressive, and thats the point. DR is a game about serious nature of reality where a disease so virulent, laying waste, just wiping it all off the face of the earth is to only real option. the goofiness is to undercut that to make it palatable. because people cant handle boldly staring the truth in the eye, therefore Frank. the type of guy that would force you to see the truth even if he has to be a goofy dick about it.

>>383921692
you familiarize yourself with the areas by playing the game. the timer forces you to go through all the areas to complete the tasks. to do things fast you need to know the areas. its automatic learning. you do this until you get to level 50. you have all the time in the world.
