I honestly think it doesn't work as a Tactical RPG. Every character in that universe uses weapons and skills that would work better in a turn based or action RPG. Imagine an ARPG playing as Prier, kicking and punching everything to death.

This is not to say Disgaea and all those other games work better as Tactical. Nippon Ichi games suck as a whole. But just saying that La Pucelle out of all of them had the potential designs for a really good action game. Something along the lines of Vanillaware or Seiken Densetsu. But Nippon Ichi sure isn't going to do that.

I disagree on this, i mean Nippon Ichi is still the only non-indie studio trying out many different genres and experimental gameplay choices instead of releasing the same identical games (Disgaea being the exception) like many other game developers do.
That said exactly because they keep on experimenting, their games most of the times are far from polished but they're still plenty of fun, like Makai Kingdom and ZHP.
I don't know about the game being an ARPG though since i haven't played many of those.

What are you talking about? They release endless Tactical RPGs. They're one of the worse offenders of doing the same thing over and over again.

There's plenty of other medium level developers out there who have far more variety. Vanillaware, Armor Project, Treasure, etc.

The type of bodies Ryouji draws are rare, but not unrealistic (not counting animal ears). The bodies Raita draws are entirely unrealistic. He draws girls who are dangerously anorexic in every area except their breasts. And breasts that stick up in the air in impossible ways.

Of course the argument is 'its 2D so who cares!' But even 2D girls follow some laws of reality.
