Dualshock D-pads are 1 piece beneath but it doesn't show when seen normally. When you press one side the others lift up just like any D-pad. It's quite different from having 4 different buttons. Why am I trying to explain the concept of a D-pad to you? If you don't see how a D-pad would make a difference compared to 4 face buttons then I don't know what to tell you.

Doesn't really matter for most games and most players. While a d-pad would be nice, I prefer the compromise that lets me use one pair of joy-cons as two controllers. If I ever do feel d-pad is that big of a deal, I can get Pro controller. So far feel absolutely 0 need.

So far I have not given a single fuck. Just fucked around with this both joy-cons separate and on the grip. When they're separate, I curl or uncurl my fingers to bring the joystick or the buttons under my thumb. On the grip, I use my left hand to tilt controller so the joystick or buttons are under my thumb or just stretch my thumb up up for quick, infrequent presses.

When joycons are on the console, there is problem like the picture shows. But that's the compromise you get for compactness and portability.

If the left Joycon DID have a D-pad you could make up something like "Oh thank GOD it's not 4 seperate buttons, I play alone 99% of the time anyway so the compromise wouldn't be worth it for me, and even in the rare occasion I play local co-op with the 2 seperate joycons it's easy to use the D-pad as face buttons, so it's no big deal"

I like the concave analogs on the Xbone better.
It took 3 years for them to deter the shitty quality of DS4s, and even then it's still 6-8 battery life vs 20 hours.

Some people do have the centerless d-pad on their Switch-P which makes the dpad go flat into the controller vs tipping on each edges like the other D-pads in the world.


Otherwise the xbone controller has the least amount of complaints out of me.
