You literally can't think of a better ending than I did.
>High positive reputation with everyone except for Marburg
>Romanced Mina
>Stealth pacifist run, spared everyone the game allowed me to spare
>Albatross as the final handler
>Agreed to Leland's proposal, but double-crossed him in the end
>Mike even made a point of listing every single contact I've befriended before punching Leland out
>Rode away on the boat with my waifu, to make my own Hallbech

There were a few bizarre inconsistensies, though. I killed literally no one in the entire game, yet Parker called me a murderer in our video chat. Also, when Mike freed Mina, he was pissed at her and screamed a lot for using him like a pawn, but later the lovebirds acted like nothing happened.

I wouldn't take it so hard, anon. She just did what she had to - she clearly still cares about Mike. In fact, you could make an argument that she did what she did because she liked Mike so much; since she thought he could be trusted to be a good person and do the right thing.

He's also the one who was running against you in Taipei. Don't you think it's a little hypocritical to hold that against Scarlet when she was literally just there to pull a trigger? She helps you out, and she'll even go for a body shot on Sung even if she explicitly knows you've warned him, so she clearly doesn't particularly care for Halbech's goals.

>>383893197
I don't think he was merely pretending. I prefer to think that that's his actual personality, he's just a good enough spy to be incredibly competent because of it. Best spy in the game by far.

>>
>>383900757
We all know the gameplay is a giant dog turd. That's not why you play Alpha Protocol. It's so fondly regarded because it managed to do something Bioware didn't: It made a story where all your choices, from gameplay to dialogue, actually matters.

The story changes significantly based on who you interact with and how. Characters who might be your best allies in one playthrough will be your most bitter enemies in another.

Sis desperately wants to escape from him, though. Off-camera something is terribly wrong.

>>
>>383893363

My favorite run was Rookie with a shotgun. Answer everything you can with the Rookie special option (gives free points and is pretty amusing) then go out of your way to piss everyone off.

Start of a mission getting briefing? Turn that shit off on them. Stealth mission? Fuck that I'm a guy specializing in SHOTGUNS and HEALTH. Just ignore the alarms and shotgun my way through everything. There is a certain satisfaction for angering all the romancable girls (and you get a perk for it, you get perks for almost everything in this game).

Shame it has been so long I can't remember what ending I did with that run. Generally the best endings are the one where you backstab Leland, or if you join Leland and have cigars on the boat out with him.

There's a LOT you can do in the game which you wouldn't think they'd allow, but do.

Some of the dossier information is almost impossible to get (we're talking needing-a-guide levels of hidden) and it can make major changes to the game or even open up new paths, like when you can figure out that Brayko's not the arms dealer and can go take the real one out.

>>
>>383901654

yeah I've never got 100% dossier in a single playthrough. I don't bother reading up on AP besides some of the funnier perks you can pick up.

You can get a fucking perk for using the voice mimic on peoples crotches. If Alpha Protocol had better actual gunplay and stealth it would be the best game ever. The dialogue wheel, while common these days does a good job of giving you the illusion of choice throughout the story because the game remembers what you do and brings them back up often with consquences or benefits. You also feel rewarded for whatever style of play you go with. Violent and open? The game gives perks that helps that. Stealthy and non-lethal? Perks. Everyone loves you? Perks. Everyone hates you? Perks.

Lessons can be learned from AP and it's a shame no one has tried to mimic just how much Alpha protocol acts like your decisions matter. Its why I can still go back to the game and enjoy some dumb idea for a run. I know I'll be rewarded in some way for the replay.
>>
>>383901586
Yep. It's annoying to do because it basically locks you out of half the "funny psychopath" options (except with SIE, who LIKES them) but it's possible.

Hell, the game does some fucking awesome shit behind the scenes if you pay attention. If you act like a psycho and kill a bunch of people in the Middle East, your orphan counter goes up by multiples because they generally have big families, but do it in Taipei and the counter only goes up by 1 each time because of China's "One Child" policy.
>>
>>383901909

Maybe I just got lucky, but I did it on my first playthrough. The only dossier piece that's really hard to get is the one that Mina sends you if you don't sexually harass her. I don't remember if it was Parker or Marburg one.

That's your prerogative. I played the game only three times trying different builds, location combination and approach:

>professional stealthy pistol/melee
>suave techy smg
>asshole with a shotgun
The stealth playthrough was so much better. That said, I'm glad the game was able to still surprise me even at the third playthrough. Sega needs to give this IP another chance.

Rookie to be honest, you aren't punished that much for it and if you use all the rookie options at the prologue it gives you a bunch of free exp once you get to the game proper. Even a normal run you are swimming in experience. Veteran you unlock after is fucking insane for how much you get.

Stealth, pistols, hacking, melee - those are the skills that will carry you, especially pistols. And yes, it's meant for multiple playthroughs, because it can be beaten in just so many different ways.

Suave Rookie is difficult because of the XP deficit to start, but worth it for the extra responses. On the other hand, going with the freestyle option so you can put points into hacking, lockpicking, stealth, and pistols is probably your best bet for a stealthy, pacifist run.

Is it worth it, bros?
>>
This game is up there with deus ex and bloodlines in terms of REINSTALLING
>>
>>383902501
Yep.

If you're going nonlethal with the pistol, you may have problems building up ammo for the tranq rounds. IIRC you start with one "free" clip for each weapon at the start of each mission, and the game also uses your ammo counter for unloaded rounds at the end of the mission to keep track. So basically the closer you get to the end of a mission, the more you'll want to watch your reloads.

Upgrading to extended ammo clips for pistols is a MUST for this as well.
>>
Pistols are boring, do Stealth Melee, metal gear style

Just Saiyan. also you can't non lethal someone with bullets.

>Is this game meant for multiple playthroughs?
Yes. It has an incredible amount of reactivity, and a lot of details that don't resolve until you've seen a couple of playthroughs.
>What should I do for this first one?
Don't read this thread before you came it, it contains spoilers.

As far as gameplay? You'll want Master Awareness and at least some skill with stealth, pistols and some hacking - you don't have to go stealth/nonlethal, but in case you do want to it's very difficult without those skills.
Choices? Do whatever you want, but I'd advise being friendly to most of your allies. Get as much Intel as you can, buying as much Dossier info as you can and maps as well (you'll have more than enough money).

Spoiler-free advice: in Taipei, bug ALL the servers. In Moscow, spare the girl on the boat.
>>
>>383902743
Maybe.

Look, the gameplay is crap. Like, really crap. Like, it has no business even pretending to be an action game crap. You know how Mass Effect 2 was a major improvement, gameplay-wise, over ME1? Alpha Protocol is a same step of the same magnitude away from ME1's shooting and cover in the opposite direction.

>>383902758
And I have still beaten this game fucking at least seven times by now and am happily reinstalling for number eight.

That's how good the dialogue is. You know how Most games turn moral choice into "Do the right thing or do the right thing with a sneer on your face"?

This game doesn't do that. This game lets you be a complete fucking psychopath throughout the game if you want to be.
>>
>>383902501
>>383902743

Thing to remember is that Alpha Protocol is best when it comes to how responcive it is to your actions, it's pretty good roleplay in that sense. However it is kind of bad on the actual gunplay and stealth mechanics. Both are functional but they are kind of generic. Early levels are generic as fuck but once you get to the main campaign it picks up.

It's a not a perfect game, just it does some things rather well and people really liked that. It has consquences and benefits for how you play the game. It's nice like that and I wish more games would have learned from it.

>Pistols are boring, do Stealth Melee, metal gear style
>Just Saiyan. also you can't non lethal someone with bullets.
True, but there are a few times the game gives you enemies that are literally unreachable with melee, so if you want to go stealth/nonlethal literally your only recourse is with pistols looking at you, Taipei warehouse
It's honestly just best for a new player to take at least moderate proficiency with pistols, it gives you the most options.

So how is it on PC? Any good? Or would finding a cheap used copy be easier.
>>
>>383903248
To be fair, I can see why. Gameplay isn't that great, there is a pretty decent amount of bugs, and some skills are blatantly better then others.
It's a real damn shame though that it feels like nothing positive about this game has been really recreated yet. They had that timer on answer shit in other games, but it didn't require me to make split second decisions(Turns out I have autism for intel, who knew?) that I was forced to deal with. Maybe with the small following it seems to have it will be revived in some way in the future, but I doubt it. And even if it does, it might end up like tyranny or numera.
