Is this game considered canon?
YEe
It should.
Thread will now be overran by 13 year olds who liked Nu-Doom.
>doom 64
how many of these fucking games did they make? Jesus
>>383887930
if you count all the unnoficial wads there should be about 3000 or even more
It's Doom 3, of course it's canon.
Doom 64 > Doom II > Doom > DOOM > Doom 3
>doom
>worrying about canon
>>383887783
yeah since D44M takes place directly after the events of doom 64

I played Doom in 1993. Nu-Doom is far better than Doom 3. Doom 3 wasn't a good Doom game, it wasn't even a good FPS.
>>383887783
Yes
>>383888561
Nobody singled out Doom 3 man, why you gotta bash it so much? It's a perfectly fine game.
>>383889053
Bethdesa kid trying to prop up D44m.
>>383889053
It's a perfectly fine game on its own, but it's hardly Doom.
Yes. Takes place after Doom 2.
It goes Doom > Doom 2 > Doom 64 > thousands of WADs > Doom 2016
>>383889164
I hardly think that means you need to downplay another game in the series to drive your point home.
It's just a low blow.
>>383889212
What makes it not Doom? I know it's not exactly a traditional approach like 1-2, but it still handles the whole situation well enough. Doesn't feel entirely alien compared to the rest of the series, more like a distant cousin.
>>383887783
Isn't there a cameo of Doom 64's final boss in Doom?

Common timeline to all games:
>Spear of Destiny - Wolfenstein 3D - Commander Keen - Doom (Episode 4) - Doom 2
Doomguy is a descendant of Billy Blaze, who in turn is the grandson of BJ Blazkowicz. He wounded the demon in SoD by destroying his arm and leg, and the demon went on to become the Cyberdemon, who was later cloned/mass produced.
After this the timeline splits.
>(Final Doom) - User levels - Quake - ET: Quake Wars - Quake 2 - Quake 4
Doomguy won't stay in Hell, so he continues to fight off the demon armies. Later, the military develops slipgate technology on their own, but like the teleporters, they open a portal to another dimension. Doomguy is out of the picture at this point, but a guy named Ranger steps up and defeats the invaders. Later, the Strogg attack Earth, and the Terran Confederacy of Man manages to use the aliens' own wormhole technology to launch an assault on Stroggos. Again, one guy manages to win against all odds and defeated the Makron. Then the invasion begins in earnest and Kane gets partially stroggified and defeats the new Makron afterwards. He gets new orders but we never find out what those are.
>Doom 64 - Quake 3 Arena
Doomguy stays in Hell to make sure the demons don't attack Earth again, but the powers that be decide that sentry duty is a waste of his fighting skills and recruit him to fight in the Arena Eternal. Doom(guy) in Q3 is from this timeline, but the characters from others (like Ranger) are taken from the other one after they've done their job.

lol Bethdesa kid having a meltdown
>>383893473
it's its own game. fully 3D
>>383893473
It's an entirely new game with great level design and updated weapons and monsters. It was ported to PC by a fan, and is arguably better than Doom 1 and 2.
>>383893716
>and is arguably better than Doom 1 and 2.
it's good but nowhere near as good as og Doom

Personally I would rank them 1 > 64 > 2

>2018 - The military, UAC's biggest supplier, has used the remote facilities on Phobos and Deimos to conduct various secret projects, including research on inter-dimensional space travel.
>2019 - The Marine assaults a superior officer, and is transferred to Mars, home of the Union Aerospace Corporation.
>2021 - July 1 - DOOMNL 01-D19305-1C is published.
>2022 - March 15 - Mars receives a message from Phobos base stating that the base is under attack and requesting backup.
- A few hours later, the marines land and try to stop the invasion. The Marine is ordered to stay behind and protect the perimeter. The marine forces are wiped out or turned into monsters. Planetary authorities send the final Marine the new DOOMNL 01-D19505-1D replacing earlier manual (now including briefing for the Marine, and images from the invasion captured by remote video cameras. The video data was computer analyzed by the UAC and the results are provided "here and only here"). The Marine leaves the escape pod vowing to destroy the invasion force.
- Doom begins
- Doom II begins
- No Rest for the Living begins.
- The Plutonia Experiment begins.
- 2023 (or at least a year after Plutonia Experiment) TNT: Evilution begins.
- The fatigued marine is decommissioned, and the military DOOM Episodes are classified. The UAC's bases are sealed, and quarantined by radioactive bombardment.
>Years Later - Doom 64 begins. The Doom Marine is re-commissioned to stop a new threat, from a deepspace installation he once fought the Demons at.

The timeline goes like this:
>Doom
>Doom 2
>Doom 64
>D44m
TNT and Plutonia aren't canon, and Doom 3 takes place on an alternate timeline/universe
