The return of Boss Fights and Subspace Emissary.

>A custom stage creation mode that isn't utter shit

Being able to draw platforms had me excited at first, but it's so clumsy, you have to completely erase anything you don't draw perfectly the first time, and a shitload of features and objects are actually REMOVED from the last game.

>A new story mode.

I completely concede that this is a totally optional thing and if there was a choice between spending time on new characters vs a story mode with limited development time, it should be spent on new characters. But Subspace Emissary was super exciting in its day, and it was a let down not to have it in Smash 4.

>Keep it up with the third-party characters.

They didn't do a good job of keeping them balanced, which may have been a big flaw, but Cloud, Ryu, Bayonetta, Mega Man, they were all really awesome and they way they made each character function showed how devoted they were to the characters they were adding in. Being able to do Street-Fighter-style combos with Ryu and making Cloud's limit breaks work the way they, fuck, the team behind it had to be big fans themselves to make the characters work so well.
