16K when?
direct video output into your eyes when?

32K when?
>not using 64K
>>383869498
8K should say Super Ultra HD
Soon
I literally don't even know what 4K means and I don't think anyone really does
whats the point of super high resolution when everything still looks like ass?
>>383869498
go outside.
>>383869619
I mean, we're getting there sort of. Have you tried VR before? Covers 110 degrees. Human FOV is like 210 degrees, for context
>>383869498
1080K when?
>>383869498
We can barely 4k.

retards
>>383869796
real life is actually 16k
What's the ceiling for reasonably useful resolution going to be? There's only so big a monitor / TV can get.
>>383869691
I like how they just keep on tacking qualifiers.
>720 HD
>1080 Full HD
>2K Better HD
>4K Ultra HD
>6K Mega Ultra HD
>8K Fuckload of Pixels Ultra Mega HD
>>383870050
As many pixels as people will keep paying for.
>>383869841
>VR
That's small time.
>>383870050
8k is the resolution endgame. 30mm is the equivalent of 16m and IMAX is the equivalent of 6k.
>>383869573
It's already possible
>had to resize image to be able to post it
>>383870364
is this space engine?
>>383869498
Consoles can't even comfortably run games at Full HD yet, they'll take like another 5-10 to even think about 8K. PCs might get there in a few more years, provided display manufacturers can ramp up without much hassle.
>>383871161
For what purpose though? How many devs are actually taking the time to build 8K assets, or even 4K assets when the vast bulk of their player base is on 1080 -1440?
There's a few standout titles and studios, yes, but for the most part it's wasted time and effort that goes unexperienced by all but 10% or so of their userbase who drop $2k+ on the hardware that can handle and display it.
>>383871404
Most studios just make 4K assets. Then you got the fucktards at Square Enix making 8K assets for FFXV and shit.
>>383870847
Yes
>>383871537
And then spend days in the boardroom wondering why their projects take 10 years to develop and cost so much goddamn yen.
>>383869498
>8k when
Now. Unless you mean in your living room/basement, in which case, about 7 years.
>>383869573
There's isn't a screen around that can handle that resolution yet.
>>383869623
>>383869628
>>383869668
Probably not going to happen. The screen would most likely be to big for your home at that point
