Video card prices are inflated right now because a new bitcoin ripoff just hit the streets and tons of miners drove up the demand. It'll probably drop lower in the next few months. $500 is still a decent price, but it never hurts to wait around and find one on sale.

That's basically my plan of action. VR is still in its early adopter phase. I'll let the guinea pigs run the wheel and get a better experience than them for a fraction of the price.
