Playing through Prime 1 for the first time (I played the demo at a store kiosk way back when it first came out, but never the full game) and am just about done. It's been great so far but the triforce hunt at the end sucks and the Phazon Mines area is shit. Way to sour the end of the game.

They aren't hard, just annoying to navigate and poorly designed. Tons of dark rooms forcing you to use the ugly visors to navigate, color-coded enemies and doors galore so you are constantly switching beams (which is annoying as fuck with Wii controls), invisible enemies also requiring ugly visors, awful boss preceded by a bunch of near-identical mini bosses, and the Metroids are annoying little shits like always. The entire area is a chore.

It incorporates features from the Prime design to modernize it a bit.

They give you this world that you can explore freely at your whim without tutorials and cutscenes and disgusting handholding elements that you'd see in casual games like Bayonetta or Zelda or Halo or Uncharted (which are all the same cinematic movie games). It's pure videogame kino which lets you explore a massive world at a steadily growing pace, and it has the structure that prevents it from being just an open worlded borefest.

Best of all, I think, is Samus herself. She's a cool badass female who isn't just a slut that strips every 5 seconds. Sure you get a cool pic of her out of the power suit at the end of most games, but during the game itself she's all protagonist, all the time. If you had to start somewhere, I'd say play through Zero Mission, then Metroid Prime, then AM2R (a fan remake that completely improves one of the older titles), then Super Metroid, and fusion which is optional. They all play differently, but they each have their own distinct flavor that makes them good.

I don't quite agree. I like that suit design a lot; but, aside my personal preference for the color scheme of the red/black one, I feel like the one we got fits the phazon concept better. The released one's color scheme just looks more aggressive which fits phazon's overall concept extremely well.

There's always the possibility it won't be the Gravity Suit, but it's definitely going to be a suit upgrade, because the Varia Suit and the empty space next to it are sectioned off into their own "group" just like the bombs and the blank space next to it, which is most likely to be the power bombs.
