CPU/mobo

Still rocking a 2500k, and even with overclocking it's starting to show its age, plus I know that the socket type hasn't been used in years.

Otherwise, I'll probably just move the rest of my components over to the next build, maybe get some DDR4 RAM, but otherwise everything else is solid.
>>
>>383845001
overclock that monitor my dude.

>>383845071
just get a new mobo/cpu/ram and transfer everything else over.
>>
>>383844862
I plan on getting a new GPU at least, maybe also a bigger SSD and a hard drive to back up the SSD on. Probably in a few months after I pay school loans off completely
>>
>>383845525
>after I pay school loans off completely
>tfw I just got started paying on mine

Oh well, at least I have a job I enjoy.
Good on you getting the paid off anon. How long it take you? Did you even have much? 50k for me.
>>
>>383844862
In a year or two when 4k 144fps cards hit the market that, otherwise I'm set.
>>
>>383845953
Ideally I'll have them done by September, so 4.5 years or so. Do not, do not, do NOT, pay only the minimum. The interest will fuck you hard in the long run. I started on ~34k but I've been good on money management the past year or so, so I've been dropping ~$2k a month into it. Only ~8k left
>>
>>383846204
I'm on an IDR plan and basically paying the min. I don't plan to keep it that way for long, and you're exactly right. interest will bone me to the moon and back.
>>
>>383846314
I see a number of people holding signs saying "I had 30k in loans and I've had to pay off 45k! #loanforgiveness" and stuff like that. That's what happens when you pay the minimum. Using that extra money as a treat for oneself sounds far better to me

time being you could just overclock your current monitor. it will probably get to 75hz
>>383846915
time for a new build imo. is that a 4:3 monitor? imo you probably don't even care to play anything new on PC. you might just keep what you got lol

Upgrading to an Ultrawide monitor. Running a 27 inch 165hz gsync panel right now. Its not enough.
>>
>>383847083
i've had that cpu for 1 1/2 years and it's been on the stock cpu the entire time. that was the best OC i could get with the stock. I think I may get a noctua soon. I should be able to hit 4.5 then

for 65 bucks that's good.

add a stick of 8gb ram, get a new graphics card if you can find a good deal and consider getting at minimum a 1080p monitor.

these are my thoughts

All of it but It's still serving me fine after more than 5 years so I'm going to keep waiting until a game I really want doesn't run.
