I chose my parents a nice IPS 23" fullhd monitor and a TV of same specs.
I've also played on a 120hz monitor and a freesynch one.
Nothing is impressive enough to make me waste cash I could spend on my desktop.
1280x1024 + SSAA (+MSAA) is king. Best performance, zero frame drops, extra free RAM for textures and other shit.

What are you even talking about. HUD size has nothing to do with aspect ratio, 5:4 probably fucks up modern game HUDs anyways. If you meant that your hud becomes smaller the bigger the resolution is, games have ways to make the hud scale.
Cmon dude.
And if you do want a ratio close to 5:4, then get an old 4:3 crt at the very least.

What you're seeing in the screenshot is me using a third party tool to stretch out the game onto the letterboxing because the game just renders at 1280x1024.
I meant that the game takes up a smaller percent of your field of vision so everything is easier to see.
