Watch_Dogs did it best where the game pauses normally. Unless someone invades your game where the pause menu still comes up, but the game still runs in real time.
It's a great way to figure out if you're being hacked before they actually fuck you up.

I just don't think the interrupt systems work well. They're always a weird compromise, especially when you factor in team moves all at once. SRPGs tend to avoid that by using individual turn timers and no interrupt systems.
Stop being a fag, OP. Brigade E5 (JA) and UFO series (X-COM) are good games. Not without issues, of course, but very much enjoyable.
Sadly, real time Fallout - The Fall: Last Days of Gaia is shit. Bretty good main theme though.
