Is the Witcher series actually good or is it just a meme?

It's good, slightly overrated though.

1 probably has the best RPG aspects, but it has quite a few really tedious and/or boring parts.

2 gave us more action oriented combat without sacrificing the RPG part much imo, and it's overall a nice ride, no really boring part. But it feels kinda on rails, it's definitely the most linear one.

3 is open world, which it does well but at the same time I don't think the series benefited from it. Combat is fun but somewhat neutered and shallow, there are good quests but also a bunch that feels MMO tier, the huge map is filled with "points of interest" that makes it feel repetetive. I did love the game though, if you don't waste too much time on nonsense then it's a stellar experience.

Play it for the story. Don't bother with any difficulty above the easiest one.

It's not terrible but it's not good either. The main draw is that side quests have as much effort out into then as other games do their main quests.

Aside from that it's just Arkham Batman but with a sword. You just button smash the same button and qte the block button. Rinse and repeat until credit screen. Except it's not even Batman. The other draw being that they use nudity/porn to make people buy.

It's literally nothing but other games need to copy their camera work and npc interaction.

Still has actual gameplay, less handholding, and doesn't throw hundreds of useless items for you to manage constantly. Having played both, the only things Witcher 3 objectively has on it is story and graphics if you're also a mustard.

Witcher 1 is free on GOG (without DRM) if you install Gwent and the 2 and 3 are on sales really often you can take them both for less than one AAA title.
They are worth it no matter what /v/ says.

just playing trough the Witchers for the first time actually. finished 1 recently and i'm 10 hours into 2.
1 was a bit of a slog with plenty of fetch questing, stale characters and brain-dead combat. The environments and the choices you make throughout the game is what saves the game though. there's no direct evil path to go on and the game keeps you guessing on what you should do next.

2 is better so far, its streamlined but for the better.
