> a 10/10 game is perfect
>5/10 is average
therefore
>7/10 is passable
and
>6/10 is dogshit
Here's a fact for you. Games can only be ranked on 1 to 5. 1 to 10 is too much. 1 to 100 is ridiculous.

I rank games in
>not worth playing
and
>worth playing and replaying
If a game is not replayable it goes automaticly into "not worth playing".
in video games the average is actually 7 and most games are rated 7/10.

Dumb anime posters

its because 70 is just barely a passing grade
100 isn't perfect either because anyone can get that score with just a little effort.
it would be nice if 10/10 actually meant something, but it's usually an indicator that the game is overrated instead of actually being good
Video game criticism is a joke
Either find "reviewer's" who share your tastes or just play shit you know you like over and over again

I think I'm with you. Numbers aren't for critical reasons, but for whether or not it's worth a purchase. I've never seen a book criticism end with a numerical score, I don't see why games need them.

Eurogamer is the only review site worth listening to.

>he doesn't understand relativity
If everybody rates an average game 7 then 5 is dogshit
>>383807774
5/10 is mediocre
6/10 is passable
7/10 is good
8/10 is great
9/10 is fantastic
10/10 is a masterpiece
My problem is when you get to the lower numbers.
How do you decide what's a 2/10 and what's a 3/10?
>>383807774
People rate 7+ because they don't even touch anything that looks 6/10 or less to them. The only time they rate lower is when the game turns out to be unexpectedly disappointing.
7/10 is seen as the new 5/10.
It should always be, roughly, along these lines
1. Irredeemable
2. Awful
3. Bad
4. Poor
5. Mediocre
6. Okay
7. Good
8. Great
9. Fantastic
10. Masterpiece
If you must stick .5's in, append "very" or whatever. I never understood how this was difficult.

3/10 had some enjoyable shit but mostly garbage, 2/10 is mostly shit, 1/10 is a disaster and 0/10 is a disgrace.
imo
Bioshock 3/10
Bioshock Infinite 2/10
Devil May Cry 2 1/10
Dear Esther 0/10

>5/10 is average
This meme ia so fucking dumb. You make an average by summing the scores and dividing by the number of scores summed.
>>383807948
0 is also a necessary option.

>70 is barely a passing grade
in American education
rating on a numerical scale is weapons-grade retarded
It should be
>I recommend it if you like games similar to X
>Mixed. You'll either love it or hate it.
>I don't recommend it. Compared to games like X it just can't compare.
10/10, 9/10 and 8.5/10 are paid reviews
8/10 is utter mediocrity
Everything lower is absolute irredeemable shit
