Takamaru is the only one there that was ever considered for playable and Sakurai stopped that pretty quick specifically because he's a literally who.

Pro-tip: between Brawl and 4, there was a new Punch-Out game and Lil Mac was also in Captain Rainbow. And he's the star.

Sakurai always adds one from the NES era. G&W is the original Nintendo character, so he doesn't apply but Ice Climbers, ROB and now Duck Hunt Dog do.

Frankly at this point, the N64 is considered retro, so I'd love to see some Wave Race representation, but that ain't gonna happen and neither will those AT upgrades without a new game.

My favorite Nintendo series is Zelda.
I wish they could change Ganondorf to be something other than a clone. I don't think they will though, I'm pretty sure no character as really gone through that big of a change. I'd really enjoy seeing Link and Zelda to be tweaked to emulate the BoTW versions and get some new moves for them.

Really though, what are the chances that Nintendo really does what to bring over all the good Wii U games? They're already doing MK8 and Pokken, but a few games were weird to me, like Lego City and Rayman. I can only see that those games are getting ported to Switch is because Nintendo asked those devs to. This is why I think we'll see Sm4sh ported sometime next year, and a real new game in 3-4 years, or at least that's what I'm hoping.

If it's a proper Smash 5 I'd expect Inkling and Spring Man to be playable characters. I wouldn't mind if Ribbon Girl was an assist trophy or an alternate skin for Spring Man, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. Maybe they could incorporate Mario's hat from Odyssey into his moveset or Link's ability to climb from BotW (if Link jumps at a wall he can scamper up it a little bit before falling). I almost feel like if they're going to go with a Smash 5 route, they should release a Smash 4 Deluxe first, wait for all the major first party games to come out, then in holiday of 2019 come out with Smash 5 so that more characters can have their movesets updated with things from their Switch games.

Not that anon, but I disagree for a few reasons. For one, Skyward Sword came out 6 years ago and it's reasonable to assume this may have been the first Zelda young people have played and the character design hasn't returned to anything traditional with BotW. So for them, this is what the franchise looks like, not dad-tier designs from before they were born.

This sort of happened with Samus, though not as drastic for sure. Samus had the Other M suit for that one game, but that's the design choice the Smash team made. They also updated Ike and Roy. I am convinced Other M Samus was thrust onto them because the proportions are still Super's, the implementation of her Other M design comes off more like a skin for Brawl Samus honestly. Even ZSS is the one from Brawl with stilettos and a beauty mark.

Replace Smash Tour with Smash Run; I frankly have no idea why Sakurai put the better mode into the 3DS version.
Make Classic Mode more like the 3DS version, instead of keeping it as a 8-player clusterfuck.
Add an Adventure Mode, but on a smaller scale (preferably a more polished and expansive version of Melee's AM). It'd do so much for Smash 4's otherwise lackluster offline content.
As far as characters go, Ice Climbers are flat-out guaranteed to come back, as they were only cut out of 3DS/WiiU due to technical difficulties.

I only want Tetra as the new Zelda rep.

I'd like to see Smash 5 instead of a deluxe port. I expect the DLC characters to remain as DLC, the three upgraded costume clones will be updated to actual unique characters they should just go back to costumes, but I can't see Sakurai doing that, but I want new LoZ, Metroid, and Kirby characters, at least one for each. As for other newcomers and new franchises, I want to be surprised, so I don't care. Outside of characters, I want a better, faster to complete classic mode, a reasonable Adventure mode like mode, and a better stage creator

Any predictions what characters that Sakurai will most likely choose?

I'm very afraid that Sakurai will give us no western 3rd party reps and give us more 3rd party crap from japan that has little relationship with Nintendo.
