If anything VII seems to be shaping up to be a bastardization of what it once was, not a tribute.

At this point? Screw it, milk it until it's completely dead. If nothing else it provides comedic value. Hell, personally the poor quality of the iOS/Steam remakes of V and VI actually hurt a lot more than the festival of bad jokes that is XV.

There's a good reason Final Fantasy is considered the single most pleb-tier JRPG to ever come to this world.

The only thing going for these games has been the massive budget for longer than you've been alive.
