But sure, I'll bite. For some games, muting the game and using your own 'soundtrack', so to put it, simply doesn't work. Those tend to be games that put a lot of emphasis of story, atmosphere, immersion etc.

- Dark Souls
- Deus Ex
- Metal Gear Rising this game has god tier music programming btw
- Metro 2033
- Thief

The are games which you should absolutely NOT be muting or substituting your own soundtrack.
