meet your match: there are still busting community servers there are still ways to easily hop into basically any map of your choice. and if competitive mode is your thing MM is an alright place to start, but you might want to Que up for one of the million community run pug services as well because it can be slow at times especially if you're in australia
Hackers ruin it: You got me there, fucking hackers are cancer but you can always go find a community server or pug that strictly oversees idiots of that nature
muh 2007 feels and maps and players: your friends may have left or changed aliases but there are still thriving communities and if you remove your nostalgia goggles you'll probably find the game is still as mechanically robust as ever.
