I never really like the Deus Ex box art. Looks kinda cheap. It could have been worse. Picture related, this is what the box was originally supposed to be like.

Iconic, it portrays a message without laying it on too thic. The artstyle isn't my fav, but it's representative of that era and executed extremely well. Composition is flawless.

That's criticism.

It does indeed have that late 90s - early 00s "everything futuristic is silver" kind of thing going on. The GOTY version of DX had a shiny foil paint, making it even shinier.

Dear god, no video game cover should feature 3d models, period.

I dislike the Deus Ex: Human Revolution box art. Too generic, but I guess it fits with the theme and style of the game. It tries too hard to be "epic badass", probably trying to attract the dorito mountain dew audience. I wish they had made a homage to the original DX box art by having Adam pose like Denton, but in that yellow glow and have those shards explode in the background or something.

This box ar has the same problems as Deus Ex box art. Looks cheap, and the CG Shodan and Von Braun stick out badly. Some kind of painting/digital painting instead of the 3D models would had been better. The original System Shock had a very weird cover art as well, but at least it had a painted face of one of the enemies, giving it a timeless look no matter how silly it looks. SS2 box art instead looked dated the moment it came out.

These are awesome. Very 90s, it was probably what Deus Ex was supposed to look like before it was influenced by the The Matrix. The original Denton looked like Postal Dude.

I prefer the original, but that cover ain't so bad, either.

That seems to check out. Look at all those Doritos flying about.

Looks nothing like the game. Would have been false advertisement. Also, not as good as the OP.

I disagree with your assessment. The System Shock 2 cover, while not particularly good, looks way cooler than the System Shock 1 cover, which looks like complete shit.

I wish modern Fallout games would follow the style of the originals. They're too clean, especially for the post-apocalypse standard. The OG Fallout games were gritty as fuck, the loading screen art was like straight from Judge Dredd comics.

Why don't video games have covers like this anymore? I hate CG crap. Even a game logo on blank backgroud is better than some 3D model vomit.

Just by just looking at this cover you know you're about to play something awesome.

Not much better. Neat idea but poor execution.

Your favorite box art is shit.
