Endings A and B can't even be called endings. Sure, they show you the credits after you reach them, but the story actually continues in C/D/E. They're more like the first chapter, rather then an ending.

It's an experimental type of game so you may love it or you may find it overrated. I'd suggest playing the other games of the Taroverse first, (Drakengard, Nier and Drakengard 3). Its good, gameplay has potential but its brought down by most mobs/bosses being either complete pushovers or complete assholes depending on which difficulty you set it to, they balanced the difficulties extremely wrong. It does shine in some cases though and its certainly better than the 1st game's gameplay.

Story/Music/Characters/Atmosphere are what carry it. If not for anything else, get it for these. If you care about gameplay too much then don't, you'll get frustrated by it not being bayo or DMC levels of great.

This is absolutely wrong. You play the game as 3 different characters and apart from Ending B, the plot continues on. Then you just get to Ending C and D and use chapter select to quickly collect them both.

Not that guy, and sure, having played the previous games will make Automata a bit more enjoyable, but it is a far cry from anything you should consider required. The game does a good job of explaining Nier 1 stuff like with the Gestalt Reports and the backstory of the twins, and it's a good thing that they don't go all out on explaining Emil to you, that adds some mystery to his character for people who haven't played OG Nier and gives them some incentive to check that game out. Point is, everything is explained well enough to work within Automata's own story. Perfectly understanding everything that has its roots in OG Nier is just icing on the cake, it's nice but not required. Automata does a good job of working both as a sequel and an individual game that can stand on its own legs. Something most sequels should be but sadly aren't.

You can't just assume it's automatically derivative anime shit just because it's a sibling relationship instead of a father / daughter one.
