What went wrong?
No zelda on launch.
all it's games got ported to switch

Someone waifu fag on another board ruined that yellow dog character for me...
>First half of it's life was nothing but delayed Wii ports
>Second half of it's life was delayed Switch ports
>>383764579
Naming it the Wii U. Any other name and it would done a lot better.
>>383764763
it's = it is
its = possessive
>>383764869
It's shit.
>>383764579
Confusing name and bad marketing, making normies think it was just another wii model.
>>383764579
The name, the marketing, the price, and going a full year without a solid 1st party title while the PS4 was launching.
The concept was pointless, having your controller be a screen was tried with the GC/GBA connecting thing and no one back then. It's a gimmick at best and a detriment at worst. It was also poorly advertised, lot of people didn't know that it wasn't just some kind of add on to the Wii.
No Animal Crossing
>>383764579
Name, marketing and lack of support. Nintendo's worst home console.
/literally/ no games . Because the console was retarded amd too expensive and didn't actually appeal to anybody
>>383764579
Too much niche/spin offs
2014 was literally the only good year
>>383764579
Advertising and brand image.That's it.
The Switch has virtually all of its other issues (quality and quantity of games, relative low specs compared to the immediate competition, etc.) but is selling well.
>>383765145
How is it a gimmick?I think its good for shooters.
>>383766752
switch sales are tanking in the west now
>>383764579
Needed a fifty dollar price drop at launch, more advertising, a e3 reveal that people could understand, a launch year with consistent first party releases, VC that wasn't shit, software that worked, and games that made use of the gamepad
>>383764579
how could anyone in QA think Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival was a fun game and ready for release?
>>383764579
Why is Isabelle there? Fuck you, Isabelle. Your "bored game" sucked.
>>383764579
Zelda was a port, Animal Crossing was a mini game, Mario was fun but nothing new, and the gems of the system were great but not system sellers.
>>383764579
Droughts between major titles
Bad marketing, a lot of people didn't know whether it was a console or accessory
Gamepad concept never fully realized with a "killer app"
Basically the opposite of the Switch situation.
>>383764579
>barely any games
>marketed very poorly
>name that confused parents and normies
wow i wonder
>>383766752
The wiiu library's momentum the first few years were terrible compared to just this one year for the switch alone. Plus the switch is guaranteed to get pokemon and animal crossing. Branding played a huge part but consolidating all their games on one system helps.
>>383764672
That makes no sense.
