Pretty much any character when played well, give or take some extra challenges to account for. Other than the occasional exception to the rule (like Jack-O vs Axl) GG's tier list and character match ups aren't as influential in a match as other fighters. Freestyle combos are "the" thing in GG.

Might as well keep going with Baiken then. Despite what people will tell you about Ky, there isn't a designated beginner character in GG. Just choose who you like at the start for any reason (looks cool, like the character's personality, you saw a YouTube video where someone went CUHRAYZEE, ect.) Just don't be afraid to play others every now and then. Sometimes all you need to make the next step "click" is seeing the game as another character.

When you get to tournament levels, you can get by without DI. But that doesn't mean it isn't an important tool to keep in mind. Besides why would you even play Sol without keeping DI in mind? That's like playing Slayer but hating pilebunkers.

They use it mainly as a mix up. Gets the other guy on tilt. Cause there's a lot of ways to punish Dragon Install if you're ready for it. The idea is to use it when they forget you can do it. Most of the time though people just rely on Sol on his own to get by since DI is a real risk vs reward kind of thing and it's hard to get the reward at tournament levels.

Anyone here play GG2 Overture? I managed to get a few multiplayer matches back in the day and I feel like there's a whole world of undiscovered mechanics and meta under the surface.

If they were ever to try making a game like it again, I'd want it to be a prequel set during the crusades. There's a lot of cool (and brutal) stuff they could show us by setting a GG game back then.

I got the game 2 weeks ago and picked dizzy solely because I liked the fire/ice dynamic and "nice" characters. If i am gonna spend a lot of time on a character, I have to like it.
Does she really suck? I usually don't play long range characters, so I might just suck at using her.

That would be really cool. Although I feel like GG2's campaign mode was the worst aspect of GG2 to the point where it was completely unrepresentative of the game's mechanics and meta. I barely got to scratch the surface considering how hard it was to find anyone else who played it.

Yes. This started being hinted at after GGX as to why Sol spared her (although he probably figured it out right as he decided to do so). In GGX2 I-No started her rampage by targeting Dizzy to get to Sol, anyone who knew she was still alive was shocked when they saw Sol drop everything to make a beeline straight for I-no, considering they assumed he wouldn't give a shit being a violent bounty hunter who kills gears.
Aria was most likely in early stages of pregnancy when she was turned into Justice and probably did not give live birth, hence the egg theory. This also means that from GGX to Revelator, Sol's had the sinking feeling that Aria was Justice, an idea he ignored as best he could as that would mean he was the one who killed Aria. Going back to older GG games with this knowledge shows all sorts of small details, like Asuka outright lying to him in many of Sol's endings.

Sort of. The point of that exchange wasn't that Ky's more powerful than Sol. But rather that they both hold back when fighting for reasons that are more important to themselves than their own lives.
Sol's has always been self explanatory. He has access to 100% of his limitless power as a Gear at any time. DI isn't the full form, he's actually holding himself between transformations. He has limited time in the form because he reaches a point where he either has to fully transform (which is a one way transformation) or cancel the transformation. Sol is a monster but his mind is still very human. We've learned just how afraid of his own existence he is over the last few games.

Ky on the other hand, we learned a lot about from his days in the Crusades from that fight. When he fights seriously, his skills are used for killing and nothing else. This adds a lot of depth as to why he believed in moral binary when he was younger. Remember, he served in the Crusades at 15. The battlefield was all he knew and humanity was in a desperate enough state to need anyone who could fight, to fight. Even if they were children. Considering how brutal the crusades were, I think it makes sense for a young 15 year old soldier to start believing in black and white morality just so something could be simple to him. Good people are good, bad people are bad. Just don't think about it and focus on killing to survive.

Nope. Sin's visible eye is actually Ky's. When he was born his Gear Brand is on his iris'. Part of that caused Sin to have strange, otherworldly visions that scared him as a child. His eye patch is the same kind of device as Sol's headband. As for his other eye, Ky gave his son his own eye through a transplant (this was done by Faust, who also helped Dizzy deliver Sin). Ky is strong enough to handle the visions which is why he now has Gear Cells in him. Because they come from a life form that has half of his gene pool.

Gear cells cannot be transferred through body fluids like blood or semen. All they really are is a Frankenstein cell made from different combinations of life forms and their DNA, cut apart and fused back together with magic . Converting a human into a gear is a very specific process and since "magic" from the backyard is pure informational meta energy, cells that share something in common like chemicals to emotional stimuli (memories of someone) or similar DNA. This is why all Valentines look like Aria. They were meant to fuse with Justice's corpse which is still full of her Gear cells. Anything familiar to Aria can fuse, but anything else will have the fusion rejected by the cells.

Depends on who they add. Probably the easier characters would be something like Slayer or Jam. Maybe Millia if they want to get a little crazy. Everyone else would be hard to gauge. One of the tweets of the datamine in the same area as the "airdash" is a weapon mode so it could be something like Sol being able to switch like Yoshimitsu. But who knows, though the hints are there.
