Its the only game we can expect to be good without seeing anything else till launch.

Book reader here. I might have shed a few happy tears when I saw the trailer. More Metro is always great, as long as book 3 is ignored!

I think you're right. The game is already on Steam; if it was W10 exclusive, there's no way they would release it on Steam.

>>383745858
After what they did with LL and the bastardized redux of 2033, probably not.

Is it coming out next year? I am excited for it. I believe they will produce a quality game. I am also looking forward to Ace Combat 7. I hope a remake of MGS3 comes out as well. For me yes, it's top priority on my want list, next to Sea of Thieves and Shadow of War.

Well one of the features on the steam page says, and I quote

Though it could be open to interpretation so you might still be right.
>>
>>383745858
What's always bothered me with this series is everyone else always gets the heavy duty, millitary grade Gasmasks while your stuck with the piece of shit glass mask that cracks in one swipe from anything. The redux was basically some graphical cleaning of Metro 2033 and adding the Nixie watch.

Otherwise that and Metro Last Light are still great shooters.

I get you want to be the edgy contrarian that triggered fans, but it doesn't work if the series is generally considered good.
>>
>>383756284
I heard a lot of the complaints for the redux versions was that it made stealth too easy. LL stealth was easy to begin with, but original metro 2033 stealth was hard and really glitchy, sometimes impossible to do because of AI hearing you while climbing mandatory ladders, etc.
Were there other ways that redux changed the games?
>>
Indivisible.

Russian Siberian countryside most likely, any place far from cities and high military points are less radiation afflicted so most likely the remote, Siberian villages.
>>
>>383756421
From the steam page

>"They have struggled against the poisoned elements, fought mutated beasts and paranormal horrors, and suffered the flames of civil war.
But now, as Artyom, you must flee the Metro and lead a band of Spartan Rangers on an incredible, continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia in search of a new life in the East."

This basically means traveling the Trans-Siberian Railway via the awesome train from the E3 trailer. And end of the line is Vladivostok.

>an incredible, continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia in search of a new life in the East
So Mad Max: Ruski Edition? I'm now really hype for the game. I sincerely hope they make some interesting areas along the way: all kinds of creepy mutated stuff and some not quite dead inhabited settlements.
>>
>>383756515
Knives became a throwable instead of it's own weapon slot, knives can also instantly killed armored enemies instead of bouncing off, there's a stupid fucking call of duty tier button prompt instead of just hitting the melee button to backstab someone. These are some changes I can list off the top of my head.
>>
>>383756804
In Metro2035 they found out the order was colluding with the Russian govt who survived to hide the fact the rest of the world was still alive, nuked but alive. Atyrom escapes execution and flees the Metro after having his radiation sickness cured by sekrit govt medicines. The order and the Russian Govt controlled everything in the Metro and were happy to rule Moscow alone and cede the rest of the world to themselves.
>>
>>383756515
Removed recoil on weapons, shooting is much easier but guns feel weightless.
Removed armors from the game completely.
Throwing knives can't bounce off armor like in the original.
You only have 2 stealth states (visible/invisible) as opposed to 3.
That's just off the top of my head.

>t. Played the original 2033 and redux
>>
>>383756931
That goes into the stealth being easier. People you just gun through the game have no issues tho.
And stealthy through original 2033 was hard as balls in some areas and could only be done through sheer luck and hours upon hours of trial and error. It is a shame that they decided to redo the game mechanics as well, instead of just fixing the bugs that made stealth undoable
>>
>>383757290
In last light you could hear rumors amongst the Rangers that the Russian Government along with the Prime Minister fled to Siberia days before the bombs dropped, also there were numerous comms still active in D6 connected to other similar Russian military bases.
>>
>>383757035

In the first book they mention the myth of "Invisible Observers" that live in the Metro 2 which is a half truth, they actually live in a revitalised Soviet Doomsday Bunker near Taganskaya.

Also
Artyom and his two friends find a bunch of radio jammers set up along the outskirts of Moscow set up by Hansa and The Order to shut down the hope and massive power of the people living in the Metro

Disappointing ending
Miller dies, Homer and Artyom's first apostle betrays him and goes with the observers he escapes Polis with Anya and travels back to VDNKH to try and get them to go out to find people. They do not succeed and they get a station wagon and drive off to Vladivostok
>>
>>383756954
How the fuck did the Russian Enclave and 100 members only Order "Control" Moscow Metros when the three other larger and more dangerous Factions (Nazi's Commies and Hanza) kill each other on a daily basis and could have easily overtaken the Spartans if they mobilized spa Last Light final level?

>>383757223
Yeah the one and the same, they go to kill anyone who wanders into Moscow and have rings and rings of set up jammers to stop any signals from comming in. They send rangers to the surface and slaughter any immigrants to moscow. The Red army and the Nazis are both lead by collaberators with the govt, literally every single faction is in league with the govt to keep the city at war and starving. The invisible observers are real and are laughing and controling every misery

>>383757290
They live in super modern, super well stocked super safe bunkers in the secret tunnels behind the walls. They have every single modern conviencne they have happily watched people die and starve while munching on wine and caviar.Artyom is saved because the innocent girl from metro2034 became a whore and is fucking one of the observers and was being taken into the secret metro as a migrant. They don't rule the country anymore just moscow which they are more than happy to have. I mean shits fucked in other countries but even as short as a distance as Kazan the radiation is so mild they just move their crops into developed town monasteries for heavy rain people are surviving and thriving as best they can

No go fuck yourself. Redux was garbage.

Terrible voice acting, worse looking faces, shittier atmosphere and worst of all terrible AI.

In redux they made the human enemies blind and deaf. In the original they heared when you stepped on glass, but they removed it from redux. You can kill someone almost in front of/near another one, and he won't even notice it, just because there is no light near you. They won't hear if someone collapse behind them, won't see you if you walk near them. Last Light and Redux a player can kill an armored NPC in the foot which can't happen in the original. In the Original the player had to learn where the non-protective areas were on an npc to actually kill them. Enjoy your new casual shit in 2018.

>>
>>383757857
Thanks for the info but can you tell me more about what you know about the demographics and geography of the world.

Let's say there is a city of a million people doing alive and well in eastern Russia. That is what I want to know or how the rest of the world is affected. Did all Africans get killed? Did the European and American cities survive? Is there some stuff about that been talked about?
>>
>>383757905
The Fhurur works for the observers,
the Hanza generals and Brahmin work for the Observers and the Reds work for them, anyone who gets too big is bumped off, anyone too dangerous is liquidated when they travel a tunnel. They set up radio jammers around the city and ring it with mechanized patrols to exterminate anyone comming in and out.
If you are an immigrant to the metro who avoids the rangers and somehow make it in you get picked up by a customs agent because a station boss got a special request in exchange for supplies for himself.

No it isn't like the whole world is dandy and clean, they were nuked but only a few major cities were super fucked and everyone else just less so. There are other books from the rest of the Universe which are counted as cannon Poland, Italy, England, USA, Ukraine,
Czechia etc all have survivors. The USA has broken apart to basically frontier land and rings of fortified states along a rail line in the west.

Ukraine and Belarus didn't get hit by the blast? Are western European countries and USA just alright?

It's actually piss easy if go ahead of the guy and use military rounds.

That's just plain wrong, it was almost demonstrably dumbed down, especially when it comes to stealth.
I'll give you gun modding though, it's probably better in Redux.

You can kill someone almost in front of/near another one, and he won't even notice it, just because there is no light near you. They won't hear if someone collapse behind them, won't see you if you walk near them

How do these observers manage to control the mutant infested Moscow outside? The Mutants are fucking dangerous and have been shown to nearly kill Artyom many a times, also there's fucking lots of them.

Absolutely not, AI is now brain dead compared to the original especially in the stealth sections

Surface atmosphere lost because of unnecessary lighting changes making everything bright for some reason

There is a slightly better gun buying system so sure.

Holy fuck when did Metro have such deepest lore? What about the crazy Cannibal cult trying to dig into hell, where do they fit in all of this?

I liked the first two games but I'm finding it hard to get hyped for this one. I'm gonna get lynched for this but I think they need to do something new with the series like open world or something.
>>
>>383759225
fuck off with that open world bullshit you'll get a fucking TRAIN and you'll be happy with it
>>
>>383759225
Nah, you're right. But they probably can't really handle open world (or at least an acceptably detailed one by modern standards, unlike in Stalker), it's a pretty small studio after all.
>>
>>383749003
It was my first Metro. I just was kind of bored with it, wasn't huge on the supernatural twist.
>>
>>383759183
No those are just crazy motherfuckers though they don't mention every single thing they do but they say their fingers are wrapped around everything in the metro. The people suffer because they will it, they are starving and murdering eachother in misery for the next meal so the observers can rule as gods over them

>>383759223
Well yeah the whole series is a heavy hand critique of Russian Politics and history, autocracy, autocracy , autocracy. With Tsar, Commisar or President perching on the state and people making them miserable.

>>383759225
It's openish levels, think of it as STALKER 2

I hated that it picked up all the stupid action movie cliches and shifted the focus to the conflict between the factions. That was in the first game too but it felt way more interesting as just another element of the world Artyom observes in his long journey. The gommies and the nazis were better as window dressing because there isn't a lot of depth to them other than that they're evil authoritarians who want to take over the metro, which doesn't make them very compelling as the main bad guys of the story (relative to the alien existential threat of the dark ones anyways).
>>

>>383759496
in 2035 the Nazis continue being the good guys until they aren't. The fhurur has a mutant kid and they have the highest standard of living in the metro. They stop killing brown people and go and wipe out any mutated kids and disappearing some people to slavery.
The communists are all starving lol

What's sad is that the first book wasn't about that at all and I'm absolutely sure the author got that idea much later down the line.
Not that the concept of warmongering over-the-top factions was much better. My favorite parts of the whole thing were about paranormal shit anyway.

Same. All the spoopy shit that does on in the book is great. Wish there was more of it in the game.
Could they make a survival horror Metro? I know it already kind of is, but would it be better if it were a little more hardcore and purposely scary/paranormal with less resources and more scavenging required.

So you don't think that making the stealth system easier all around is a downside in some way? Yes, the glitches were also fixed, but it made stealth extremely easy to do.
>>
>>383758276
FUCK THIS PART the way to actually do it is to just SPRINT through it so you get so far ahead of the AI that he stops, then you mop everything up and as you get closer to him he'll start following you again. Fuck this section so hard
>>
>>383756421
heh maybe they will visit my hometown on the way

>>383762464
I thought this section was difficult on the xbox 360 when I played it on that originally. I don't even put thought into it on PC. I just make the AI shoot mostly everything and make sure he doesn't take much damage.
>>
>>383762907
The issue is that he just walks into the enemies and shoots them. It took me several times before I did it the way I mentioned. Stellar programming
>>
I came in this series late, in 2014 or so and played both redux versions.
2033 blew me away, amazing atmosphere and legitimate ammo shortage was intense. Last Light didn't quite rub on me as much, the story got a big too big in scale to be immersive imo. For this reason I'm a bit skeptical about Exodus, but it seems like a new arc than a direct continuation so I'm skeptically hype.

stealth was not just easy, it was completely broken, the bad guys really did seem to have an FOV of 5 or something, it made stealth play throughs really stupid. also the last boss was ridiculously easy, i managed to just permastun him with melee attacks until he died, this was on the highest difficulty. Should try that game again, don't remmeber much else but I remember not being entirely impressed by it.
