Is it common for characters to have moves that are mysteriously absent from their move list? Feng has a d/f+1 that I've never seen on there, Josie has some sort of jab-jab-low string that I can't figure out how to do, and apparently Yoshi has a bunch of stuff missing from his as well. You generally want to use uf4 in neutral as a zoning tool, a whiff punishing tool and a frame trap tool off WR2. Another thing to note is there is A LOT of shit that is -15 or more in tekken that doesnt seem like it should (certain jab strings or mids etc). An easy example of this is many characters 1,1,2 mid strings (such as the mishimas). Use the hop kick liberally when testing punishes, its only -5 on block so there is no reason not to if you dont know the frame data off hand which you probably dont.

As for how to make them block low, there are a few things, WR2 pressure is actually the main way, if you can force someone to block enough of this annoying ass move they will want to duck it, same principle applies to his jab pressure.

SS4 is also a decent low to use to make people more wary of low blocking, but by and large this isnt your primary focus as Claudio should be focused on his extremely strong keep out/whiff punish game followed by starburst mixups.

uf4 is -13, and I swear I've been jab stringed every- fucking- time- I throw this thing out. And I find people sidestep WR2 more than duck it, which SS still dodges uf4.

Is there some movement trick to get SS to actually work after a jab string? Or is it just something that works on 3 of a characters 108 moves?

Also, how do I get starburst mixups to land? I feel like people just hold back if I do f1+2, and just wait for their turn one way or another (no followup for second 1+2, or just guard the delayed 1+2). And as I get higher in ranks (currently brawler) people are realizing they can guard the second hit of d2,2, which leaves me with nothing. Should I just use the unblockable for chip damage against people like this? I'm legit at a wall here trying to figure out how to open defensive players up, or how to apply pressure after a knockdown.

I love playing launcher-oriented grapplers. While Gigas is not A. King he is decent. His air grab is punishing as fuck. He has two decent hit armor abilities that help against rushbois.

Not really, but i think at least Tekken goes for a better "expectation" than DOA does. There is at least a level of athleticisim that allows me to suspend disbelief in Tekken, the detailed defenitions found in their delts, their back muscles, thier trapize and so on.

My personal favorite was actually always Sakura Kasugano from Street fighter. She looks athletic, her waist is small but her lower half and forearms are powerful and thick.

Anyone who's been exposed to more technical, more dynamic fighting games will quickly pass on tekken. Other top fighters, namely Street Fighter, KoF and MK have advanced impressively in their latest installments; but the relic that is tekken just can't seem to evolve, furthermore many combos can be done simply by hitting 1-button, and the nearly "instant-kill" rage art moves are just laughably broken. Instead of a supplying a proper fighting engine, matches in T7 seem to rely heavily on "who can get their rage move off first". So many elements of the gameplay don't even require any sort of skill. In my book, slow motion over and over again also gets old very quickly. And in the end, it's more of a novelty or gimmick rather than an actual, thought-out fighting game mechanic. But hey, the casual crowd will be pleased!

If you want something a little more "button-masher-friendly," tekken might be your cup of tea.... Key word, MIGHT.
