What´s wrong with this?
I´m playing this for the first time and I just got the power bomb, I already opened all the yellow doors I could so I´m about to use a power bomb there, although I don´t know if I should revisit Norfair first.
Great game though, having a blast with it.
People seem to keep misinterpreting "bad game design" as "too hard"
The tube is not hard to surpass at all, but it is bad design as there is no real logic as to how it works. Every other power bomb block can be revealed as such by shooting it. The tube reacts in no way to any weapons except for the power bombs. There's a simple lack of feedback. Maybe if the tube shook or something when shot at with a missile, but not crack or anything, there would be an indication of "maybe I can break this later".
Don't use the argument of "there's a broken tube earlier on", because that doesn't really help at all. To the player, that could just be a decorative choice.

The thing is I don't think it's a problem for an optional shortcut to be completely hidden. If it were required for progress, I would agree with you, but it's not.
