Why is it okay when blizz does it?

There was a time in the past when Blizzard made legitimately good games. During this period of time, they accumulated a crapton of good will.

After that period ended, they entered a declining state, but their products hadn't become truly shit yet - they were just mediocre. However, the accumulated good will from their past caused people to think better of them and their products, which allowed the fanbase to roll up more people like some kind of fucked-up opinion katamari.

Said opinionball has reached a critical mass where Blizzard can basically be praised as geniuses for whatever the hell they do.
