Literally the only way she fits into the party is that she's an actress and the game's meta is a stage show. It's so subtle that I never even realized it until I started playing the game recently for the first time in 10 years. Is there really no other wind blowing Mario enemy they could have used? Why wasn't it just one of the cloud guys? Someone at nintendo just wanted a big black diva in the game and wouldn't take no for an answer.
