just research medkit and figure out that crouching or blocking or whatever makes stamina recharge faster

I'm having an issue where I made a new character and deleted my old one, and I cannot progress. By that I mean sometimes when a campaign map loads the scripts for certain NPCs triggering their dialogue doesn't work - and when I lose all ressurectors and die I get sent immediately back to the tutorial with Dutch. How the fuck do I fix this?
