Are there any videogame inspired by board games?

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Are there any videogame inspired by board games?
>>
Yes, it's called Chess.

inb4 "lol I troll u"
>>
literally every turn based strategy game
>>
The new Antihero looks like a boardgame.

Also any Civ is basically a boardgame.
>>
is there any videogame with guns?

Also the NES version of monopoly is alright.
>>
That's a big cock

antihero is p fun. It couldn't work as a boardgame though, due to fog of war being so key and a couple other things.
>>
>>383724613
no it isn't

I don't mean a board game retards.

I'm literally asking for videogames that are board games but aren't restricted by board games limitations.
>>
>>383724940
That sounds even more retarded. Define limitations? Space hulk got a pc port but instead of dice rolls you get computer rolls. Same game.

what else do you want, retard
>>
>>383724940
>videogames that are board games but aren't restricted by board games limitations.

If it doesn't conform to the constraints of a board game, then is it really a board game?
>>
>>383725112
>>383725143
boards games are defined by human brain limitations.

Some shit like dungeon generation, AI and other shit is too cumbersome for our shitty brains.

>>383725156
I'm asking about hybrid between board games and videogames.
>>
>>383725269
Nigga you want something different every time you post.

Simmer down and get your thoughts straight before you make a thread next time.
>>
>>383725269
Pretending to be retarded is not admirable.
>>
>>383725339
>>383725426
board games are limited by real life constrains, our brains are dumb, we can't check hundreds of variable at the same time, complex stats sheets is too complex, fog of war is basically impossible for a board game.

Meanwhile real videogames are too simplified and action focused to be interesting as board games.

Have you ever played a good board game that isn't monopoly, risk, chess or any of the ones that are famous?

How bout a board game about resident evil, but in videogame format?

If you think board games and videogames are the same, then you're ignorant.
>>
>>383725642
>Meanwhile real videogames are too simplified and action focused
Call of duty is not the only videogame
>>
>>383725642
>fog of war is basically impossible for a board game.

D&D manages just fine.

>Meanwhile real videogames are too simplified and action focused

At this point I don't think you've ever even played a videogame.
>>
>>383725775
>>383726045
most of videogame ruleset is too simplified (if compared in single terms of rule) while being too numerous and complicated for our monkey brains (too many rules with too many variables).

We're talking right now about game design terms.

Look how chess rules works:
They're easy to understand but there's enough of them to work in new and inventive ways to be almost imposible to predict.

I'm trying to talk about the middle ground between board games and videogames.

If D&D counts as a board game then basically every fantasy game is based of either it, or based of something based off it.
>>
>>383726123
>They're easy to understand but there's enough of them to work in new and inventive ways to be almost imposible to predict.

It's fully possible to predict, there is a finite number of pieces and a finite number of possible moves.
It simply requires a great deal of processing power to predict an outcome in a reasonable amount of time.

Checkers is already solved and quantum computers have their eyes set on Chess.

Chess can't be bruteforced.

Computers can beat humans, but they can't bruteforce chess.

good luck bruteforcing go.
>>
>>383726631
I'm trying to talk about designing board games without the limitations of board games.

>inb4 those are videogames
>>
>>383726634
>Chess can't be bruteforced.

It can, it just requires an unreasonable amount of time.
And bruteforcing is not the only way to solve a game, we neural networks now.

>good luck bruteforcing go.
We neural networks now.

I'm talking about board games without the limitations of board games.

>>383727032
>It is thus theoretically possible to solve chess, but the time frame required (according to Shannon, 1090 years on a 1 MHz processor) puts this possibility beyond the limits of any "feasible" (as of 1950) technology.

Your own article literally says the same thing I just said.
>>
>>383727032
>board games without the limitations of board games.
Those are Video games. If you want to talk specifically for board games you are in the wrong board.
>>
>>383727157
It's all just theory and will require at least a new architecture.

we sci fi shit niggers.

>>383727249
Of course, but their design goals are diferent.

Nevermind modern computers, the very article you linked said it was possible with 1950s computers excepting that it would take a long time.
