Is Hotel Dusk any good?

Gets stupid at a couple points, but it's alright.

I think it had some issues but I liked it overall. Sometimes, I had no idea where I was supposed to go or what to do but I'm not entirely sure that was the game's fault. I kind of wish there were more puzzles in it and less walking around.

The game had a great atmosphere though. I was always intrigued about what would happen next.

It's probably the best Cing game, but that's not really saying much.
Don't get me wrong, I like it and would recommend it, but their strong point really is just atmosphere and not much else. The gameplay is shallow and the story is overall mediocre. The characters are pretty good, particularly Kyle, and the music and visuals are nice and atmospheric. Sequel adds some things like minigames and letting you read each chapter like a book once you complete it, but the story and characters are worse.
You can also try Another Code, which I consider their second best.

I liked it, I just thought it was worse than Hotel Dusk.
It's been a while since I played it, but I remember thinking how most of the characters felt pointless and how Mila's return amounted to nothing but just a bit of fanservice.

depends, its not super exiciting but its interesting, comfy and atmospheric. regarded as one of those hidden gems. there is moment near the end that i would go as far to say its kino, but i won't spoil it.

I got right up towards the end of this game and then put it down.

I found it very unforgiving, but I'm not very good at these kinds of games so that's not saying too much.

It is very comfy though, especially the soundtrack.

How does it compare to the Another Code/Trace Memory games? I liked those quite a bit but never got around to playing either of the Hotel Dusk games.

I don't remember much of Trace Memory though I did complete it once. All I remember is it had a ghost boy and the game felt really melancholic and somber walking around an old abandoned mansion

Yep, that's pretty much it, plus puzzles of course. The second game for Wii is much longer and generally better in every way, however it never came to the States because Reggie doesn't like story driven games you only play once or twice, or something stupid like that.
