In my memorie the end of the game is shitty with ton of random fight, monsters become strong, fights last too long, but monsters give you a lot more xp than anywhere. I remember it pretty differently. I'm pretty sure even Nintendo Power was extremely critical of the art style to the point of constantly poking fun at it and talking about how the game looked good despite the art style. I remember this because I loved the cel shaded look and I was always fucking mad about how much shit the game got for it. I do miss some of the early terrain generation. There were good mountains upon rolling hills upon rolllings hills. I'd still like that as a seperate biome, but I wouldn't want to get rid of all the new biomes.

Windwaker's color harmony isn't great. I'm not sure why it gets so much praise, it mostly consists of changing the value scale on the most basic mspaint blues and greens you could pick.

I don't think it works with the art style at all either, that's my main problem with it. If you replaced WW's default mspaint color choices with, for example, skyward sword's pastel tones, WW would've looked miles better.
For example, WW's sky and ocean are almost the exact same tone of blue, but with value shifted slightly. This means the sky and the "floor" (ocean mostly) are the same color for most of the game.
WWHD fixed this, and while the bloom looks awful and the saturation is a bit too high, the base colors mix together much better.
Shifting the hues only slightly would've helped your eyes rest in the game far more, but as is, the entire game is giant, sharp, isolated blocks of color that don't transition or mix together well.

I'm not sure how you got that from it. SS' use of color is very well-done in most scenes.
In my palette I ignored the yellows and contrast, which might give that impression, but the game uses a purple grading on shadows which is difficult to show in a palette.
The wii's bad hardware made shadows difficult to render very well (most things, actually), but better hardware could probably fix those issues.
The real reason SS looked unlikable were the noses.

You can contrast an ocean and grass in low detail without picking the most bog-standard possible greens and blues imaginable.
Look at pic related, for example. WW's hard green and hard blue don't adhere to any of the basic color styles.
It's closest to a tertiary or double complementary palette, but WW has extremely limited colors which is not suited to that style at all.
They could've gone with split complementary or triad which are better suited to the number of colors they used, but they didn't.

WW doesn't use any significant amount of yellow unless you're talking about WWHD. TP and SS do. If we finally decide WW is using a square palette because of that, it's still the least creative color palette choices of the zeldas from the original image.

The animations are very nice and it works well with a controller although I use keyboard, the game is basically in development hell, 3 students started it years ago, it gets updates but as a 3 man team it's really quite slow, they have a free demo I believe, but I would recommend waiting for (if ever) the game gets finished and fully released.

it's rpg/hack and slash in the way of SoM while being kind of bullet hell on occasion, its a fun game I have about 30 hours.

Green to blue has no relation though because there's no turquoise. Yellow relates to both blue and red, but there is no red or even orange outside of the boat, so primary for the base color types doesn't even work because it's incomplete.

The colors you "found" are barely used in the game anywhere.
BOTW has a strong analogous palette 90% of the time, WW has a weak primary secondary clusterfuck palette that doesn't adhere to any color theory 90% of the time.

I got a little spoiled by the visual consistency of The Witness, so when I finally played Firewatch, the little faults in the varnish were kind of stood out to me.

Several areas adhere to very stricts pallettes, and as was pointed out, the primary color relationship is the red boat on a blue sea, with a green complimetary colored person inside it, which you DO see quite many percent of the time.

Overwatch is executed phenomenally, but the design in general is kind of uninspired. And I can't tell what any of the characters are supposed to be.

Anyway, why Blizzard has been doing better than most PC developers for many years is choosing a strong and simple pallette for each environment AND (and this is important) they make sure to also colors the shadows in the corresponding cool shades and/or implied bounce light from the surfaces underneath.

Many many games for the core audience used grey/black shadows, which breaks the colors and isn't particularly realistic either.
