I did a Susano where after the initial pull the DRK dropped grit and I stayed in Sword Oath the entire time. I shirked him in the first phase and ever since we never lost aggro. This was a pug, too. That seems worth it to me.

Macros don't have action queueing.
If you try to use a weaponskill like half a second before your GCD is up, it'll go off once it's ready.
Similar thing happens with abilities, once animation lock for one is over, the queued ability will go off.
Macros can't do that. If you just have a normal shirk macro, it'll only work if you aren't in an animation lock.
Each macro line has like 0.05-0.1 delay by default, so you can create bootleg queueing by copy pasting the action multiple times.

Tenacity is fucking garbage and literally anything is better. SS is better because you can hit that threshold where you get an extra GCD or two into FoF. Tenacity is literally 5% more damage/mitigation if you stack as much of it as is possible to have on a gearset ATM (which requires using fucking leveling gear)

You never really swap "on cooldown". No fight ever requires swaps to be made that quickly, and if you're doing voluntary swaps to maximize tank cooldowns you can just do them when someone has a Shirk available.

The real benefit is that every time you do a Provoke-Shirk combo, the total enmity of the tank instantly goes up by 25%, which makes it grow exponentially as the fight goes on, meaning that you never have to worry about a healer or DPS catching up.
